There are many stories about Mou Sheng Zhuge Liang.
One of the most famous is the story of Zhuge Liang's last words left before his death, letting four people carry the coffin to the south, and the rope was broken and buried.
The version circulated is as follows: Zhuge Liang knew that his Yang life expectancy was approaching, so he left a mysterious last word, asking the four people to carry themselves south, and when the rope broke, they buried themselves.
Later Lord Liu Chan obeyed the last words of the chancellor and specially ordered four strong men to carry the coffin south. These four strong men walked for a few days, the rope is still not broken, a thought, this rope is indeed not easy to break, anyway, Zhuge Liang has died, others do not know whether it is really the rope broken, so they lazily buried Kong Ming.
The four returned to Chengdu to invite a reward, but Liu Chan found the cattiness, and under duress, he learned that the strong man was lazy, so he beheaded the four people in a rage, but due to a momentary impulse, he did not ask where Zhuge Liang's cemetery was. Kong Ming's burial place, along with the death of these four strong men, no one knows anymore.
But this is just a legend, not a real history.
The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms records Zhuge Liang's posthumous events:
“
Liang fell ill and died in the army at the age of fifty-four.
……
Liang was ordered to bury Hanzhong Dingjun Mountain, because the mountain was a tomb, and the tomb was full of coffins, and it was dressed in time and did not need utensils.
”
Historical records make it clear that Zhuge Liang was buried in Dingjun Mountain in Hanzhong, located in today's Mian County, Hanzhong City.
Why do future generations have the legend of four people carrying coffins?
This is actually a kind of appendage of posterity to Zhuge Liang's wisdom, if Zhuge Liang is really as recorded in the history, it must not be as interesting as the rumors, so the posterity will deify Kong Ming as a person who can no longer be smart, so there will be such a story as a last word.
