On the afternoon of January 15th, the opening tour of "Silent Land - Chen Mu's Solo Works Exhibition" of Dongguan Young Artists Dream Realization Action was held at the Dongguan Municipal Cultural Center. More than 60 rock paintings with unique textures and diverse colors are arranged in different themes, and the novel form attracts many viewers to watch.
"Rock painting refers to the multicolored rock ground into a powder, blended gelatinous medium, painted on paper, cloth, board, metal and wall works, rock color works are rich in techniques, can be stacked, polished, vulcanized and other means to show a variety of picture effects." According to Hu Mingzhe, a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, "rock color" is a new term that has attracted special attention to the Chinese art community in recent years, and it is also a new material that many young painters love very much. In just a few years, painters who create with rock color have gradually formed an active group that cannot be ignored in the Chinese painting world.
At the exhibition site, artist Chen Mu explained and demonstrated the rock color craft techniques to the audience, trying to make the audience have a more intuitive understanding of his creation. He believes that the special texture of minerals, the accumulation of color layers, the permeability and craftsmanship are the characteristics and strengths of rock painting, and they are also its difficulties. The embodiment of the "materiality" of the media is Chen Mu's consistent creative pursuit. In this exhibition, he realizes that the creative appearance of the artist is a reflection of his own living state, which can never be the same, but is always in flux, and the operation of the face can often only present its labeled side.
"Looking back on the experience of holding exhibitions in the past ten years, I have witnessed Dongguan's investment and development in culture over the years, and my artistic development is closely related to the fertile cultural land of Dongguan, hoping that the outside world will focus on Dongguan, pay attention to local literature and art, and show a different business card for the transformation and development of Dongguan." Chen Mu said.
"I was amazed by Chen Mu's profound perception of traditional art, and I was also touched by his diverse thinking about art. From the works he exhibited, I saw the broad artistic vision and unique artistic insights of a native young artist, and from his works, I saw the outstanding artistic talent of a lingnan contemporary young artist, and saw the infinite possibilities that the integration of Eastern and Western cultures showed in him. He Chaoqun, deputy director of Dongguan Cultural Center, added that culture needs to be infiltrated, art focuses on innovation, and believes that Chen Mu's exhibition will bring a unique feast of contemporary art to Dongguan citizens, hoping to take the opportunity of Dongguan Young Artists' Dream Realization Action to contribute to the high-quality development of Dongguan culture in the important moment of "double ten thousand" in Dongguan.
