The Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army resisted the Japanese army for 14 years, during which time they annihilated a total of 180,000 Japanese puppet troops and contained 760,000 Japanese troops, alleviating the huge pressure on the main force of the Red Army.
However, the war was bound to be accompanied by sacrifices, and in the years of fighting against the Japanese and Kosovo, the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army also lost many patriotic soldiers, such as Yang Jingyu, Zhao Shangzhi, Zhao Jingfu and so on. When they were surrounded by the Japanese army, in the face of the threats and inducements of the Japanese army, they preferred to choose sacrifice rather than surrender to the Japanese army, and they used their lives to interpret the great national righteousness and the iron bones of the sons and daughters of China.
They are the heroes of the nation, and their deeds will inevitably be passed down from generation to generation, so today we will tell the story of the eight women who threw themselves into the river.
I. The Western Expedition was lost, and the women's group returned to the Diao Ling base area
At the beginning of 1938, the Japanese puppet army concentrated more than 50,000 troops to launch an "encirclement and suppression" of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army, and they attempted to eliminate the northeast anti-Japanese forces in one fell swoop.
In May, the Japanese puppet army formed a siege against the Second Route Army of the Anti-Japanese Coalition Army stationed in the Sanjiang area of Heilongjiang, and Zhou Baozhong, the commander-in-chief of the Anti-Japanese Coalition Army, immediately issued a deployment and ordered the 4th Army and the 5th Army of the Second Route Army to rush out of the enemy encirclement and join the large troops.
Receiving orders from their superiors, the two teams quickly assembled at the Diao Ling base area in Mudanjiang, straightened out, and then began a westward expedition to advance towards the Wuchang and Shulan areas.
In order to intercept the anti-Japanese coalition forces, the Japanese puppet army also dispatched more than 3,000 troops from Harbin, Changchun, and other places, and sent the air force to assist in reconnaissance of the traces of the anti-Japanese coalition troops.
In order to avoid aerial reconnaissance by the Japanese puppet army, the troops of the Western Expedition often could not make a fire to cook, but could only eat some raw corn or potatoes, and the conditions were extremely difficult. Coupled with the japanese puppet army's relentless pursuit and interception everywhere, the western expedition team had to be forced to fight every day, and there was no time to rest. A few soldiers were weak-willed and could not bear this kind of suffering, so they fled from the battlefield, and even more so they even defected to the Japanese army and betrayed the country and sought glory!
In August, the western expedition troops arrived in Wuchang County, where they were surrounded by the enemy and suffered heavy losses. In order to reduce the target, the two teams participating in the Western Expedition had to break through separately, and soon they lost contact.
Guan Shufan, commander of the 1st Division of the 5th Army, realized that the road ahead was more dangerous, and if the lone army went deeper, it was likely that the entire army would be destroyed, and after breaking through with the remaining 100 people, he decided to return to the Diao Ling base area and wait for the support of the large troops.
The 1st Division of the 5th Army was followed by a special detachment, the Women's Regiment, which was formed by the combination of all the female comrades of the 4th Army and the 5th Army.
There were originally dozens of team members, and after several months of fierce fighting, there were only eight people left, of which the oldest instructor, Leng Yun, was just 23 years old.
Leng Yun joined the Communist Party of China in 1934 and after graduating from Jiamusi Girls' Normal School, he worked as a teacher at a primary school in Huachuan County while engaging in underground activities. When Leng Yun was very young, her parents set her a "doll kiss", but her fiancé Sun Hanqi turned to the Japanese and became a pseudo-policeman.
Leng Yun is bent on serving the country and hates the traitorous lackeys the most, so she resolutely opposes this marriage and repeatedly asks her parents to withdraw from marriage, but they do not agree. Leng Yun reacted to the incident with the underground CCP organization in Jiamusi and asked the organization to let her go to the front line of the War of Resistance. However, Sun Hanqi was determined to be a traitor, and after Leng Yun's repeated persuasions were fruitless, it also aroused Sun Hanqi's suspicions, so he sent someone to monitor Leng Yun's actions. Cold clouds are self-consciously dangerous, and if not taken in time, it is likely to expose the organization.
After Leng Yun reported the situation to the party organization, the organization decided to let Leng Yun transfer, and in order to hide his eyes, the organization let Leng Yun and his teacher Ji Naichen of the same school withdraw from Huachuan County in the name of "elopement".
On August 18, 1937, Leng Yun and Ji Naichen came to the Fifth Army of the Anti-Japanese Coalition Army, and zhou Baozhong, the commander-in-chief of the Anti-Japanese Coalition, received them. Subsequently, Leng Yun was assigned to the Fifth Army as a cultural instructor, and Ji Naichen worked in the secretariat.
During Leng Yun's tenure as a cultural teacher, she personally wrote teaching materials and actively publicized the anti-Japanese ideology to the military personnel through dramas, poems and other forms, planting a red spark in the hearts of the soldiers.
Leng Yun and Ji Naichen get along through the day and night on the road of "elopement", they find that they are like-minded, and the common ideals make them closer and closer, and soon, they are in love.
A year later, they were married under the witness of the organization. However, shortly after the birth of their daughter, Kinachen sacrificed himself to cover his teammates.

Leng Yun endured the grief and handed over her two-month-old daughter to a local North Korean couple, and she resolutely followed the team on the road to the West.
After several fierce battles, most of the women's regiment was killed, and now only eight of them were left, and they returned to the Diao Ling base area with Guan Shufan, the commander of the 1st Division.
Second, 8 women threw themselves into the river to save the troops, preferring to die rather than be prisoners
In order not to attract the attention of the enemy, they had to bypass the village and march day and night in the mountains and mountains. At this time, it was late autumn, and it was raining heavily in the sky, "an autumn rain and a cold", not to mention that this was in the northeast, and the cold wind blew the warriors shivering.
This night, they came to the Uskhon River. There is a road in the Wusihun River that is usually very shallow, and people, cars, and horses can wade through the water, which is the "secret path" of the anti-coalition forces. At this time, due to several heavy rains in late autumn, the river swelled, and the river surface was widened by more than 100 meters, and the path of shallow water could not be identified. So Guan Shufan ordered the whole army to rest and wait until early tomorrow morning to cross the river.
According to discipline, men and women were to camp separately, and Guan Shufan and his large troops were stationed in the meadows east of Zaomugang near the village of Sanjiazi in Diao Ling Town, Mudanjiang, while the women's regiment was stationed in the willow forest next to the Wusihun River. On October 20, 1938, the First Light of the Morning dawned on the Wusihun River, and the Anti-Coalition Forces went to the designated place as agreed to prepare to cross the river.
Jin Shifeng, chief of staff of the 1st Division of the 5th Army, led eight women's regiment soldiers to the river first, while Guan Shufan, commander of the 1st Division, led the rest of the people to remain at the foot of The Tumugang Mountain to prevent the Japanese puppet army from coming from behind.

Guan Shufan found that the Japanese puppet army was all advancing towards the Wusihun River, and the situation of the women's regiment was very dangerous, so he ordered his troops to rush back to the enemy, hoping to rescue Leng Yun through a fierce attack. When they came to the river, they were all shocked, and there were only eight girls who had fought with them for so long!
Daisaku Kumamoto shouted at them:
"Surrender! Surrender without dying! ”
At this point, the women's regiment had only two paths left, either killed or captured. In the face of the enemy's abduction, Leng Yun all sneered at them,

Although they fell, their voices were still incessant, floating for a long time over the rolling Wusihun River, and that was the voice they left behind in the last moments of their lives:

That night, after the Japanese puppet army retreated, the anti-coalition troops came to the Wusihun River, and with tears in their eyes, they waded into the cold river to find the remains of eight female soldiers. However, they went to great lengths to find only the remains of five martyrs.
They buried the female martyrs by the river, and everyone cried, and they melted all their gratitude for the 8 female soldiers into tears, if they had not sacrificed themselves, the large army would probably have been completely destroyed.
After the anti-coalition forces left, the locals found the remains of three other female martyrs in the Wusihun River, but they were frozen in the river due to the cold weather. It wasn't until the spring of the following year that they were fished out and buried by the river.
The spirit of the eight female fighters who were strong and indomitable and would rather die was deeply encouraged by the anti-coalition troops, and the commander-in-chief Zhou Baozhong wrote in his diary:
The bank of the Mudanjiang River on the banks of the Wusihun River should have a spirited female Biaofang in the future.
However, Guan Shufan, the commander of the 5th Division, who sacrificed their lives to cover the eight female soldiers, was frightened by the Japanese puppet army, and after seeing the heroic sacrifice of the eight women, he was not encouraged, but instead lamented why they did not cherish their lives, if they crossed the river early, wouldn't they be all right? If they surrendered, wouldn't they have to die?
Guan Shufan felt that the women's regiment was not worth it all day, and he also felt that the strength of the anti-coalition forces and the Japanese army was very different, and it was better to surrender early than to be completely wiped out by the Japanese army. As a result, he often spread negative ideas in the army and shook the soldiers' determination to resist Japan.
Not long after, Guan Shufan secretly went down the mountain to negotiate with the Japanese, and when he returned, he was still wearing a Japanese military uniform. The military commander Chai Shirong saw it and immediately talked to him. Guan Shufan said that he was there

Zhou Baozhong gritted his teeth in hatred, he had always had high hopes for Guan Shufan, he didn't expect that he was so greedy and afraid of death!
