In 1946, our army established an intelligence group in Beiping, set up a secret radio station, and the superior of the intelligence group was far away in Xi'an, which was subordinate to the Xi'an intelligence system. Although the intelligence group in Beiping was established late, it achieved very good results, and it learned in advance of the intelligence of Chiang Kai-shek's attack on Zhangjiakou, and in 1947 also obtained detailed information on the deployment of Chiang Kai-shek's army throughout the country.
Jiang Jun hated this intelligence group to the bone, and the military command and later the Secrecy Bureau wanted to get rid of it quickly, and once sent a radio rover to patrol the streets and alleys of Beiping all day to search for the location of the mysterious radio wave. Chiang Kai-shek's agents were very cunning and were not busy escorting them back to the Secrecy Bureau, but were detained in the house, in order to see if any other members of the underground organization would continue to contact each other and make a net; second, they deliberately pretended to relax their vigilance and let a few people show any flaws.
This trick really worked, Zhang Houpei of the four people, due to lack of work experience and was deceived, he saw that the agent was "negligent", and there was only one old mother cleaning in the hospital. He saw that the old mother's face was simple, so he secretly gave her a gold ring, asked her to help go to the telegraph office, and sent a telegram to Xi'an, the recipient was called Zhao Yaobin, and the content of the telegram was: My brother and I were hospitalized. This is a code word, which means that the Peiping intelligence station was destroyed by the enemy.
Where did Zhang Houpei think that this old mother was also a female agent, and she immediately reported this information to her superiors. In this way, Zhao Yaobin in Xi'an was also exposed.

At this time, the agents took the four people back to the Secret Bureau and tortured them, and the intelligence systems of Shenyang and Beiping were confessed and destroyed. It has to be said that the interrogation by the Secrecy Bureau of the Chiang Kai-shek Army was very fierce, and after severe torture and coercion and inducement, traitors continued to appear among these people, and they confessed new underground organizations, thus circulating and forming a dangerous "domino effect." This includes the important intelligence system that our side painstakingly installed within Chiang Kai-shek's army, including 2 lieutenant generals and many major generals, which was seriously damaged by the enemy.

Wang Shijian, whose original name was Zhao Yaobin, joined the revolution in his youth, was arrested once in 1933, and after the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Zhou Gong bailed out the red agents imprisoned in various places, and Wang Shijian was released. In the summer of 1941, Wang Shijian was sent to Xi'an, and after six years of arduous development, he built a huge "Wang Shijian system" that could radiate to the high-level intelligence networks in Beiping, Baoding, Shenyang, Lanzhou, and other places.
In 1947, Hu Zongnan attacked Yan'an, and the reason why the chairman was able to calmly "hide and seek" with the pursuing soldiers on the Loess Plateau was due to the underground intelligence organization. Therefore, Mao, Zhou Shouchang, and Li Kenong all gave Wang Shijian and his system high praise and high hopes.

After Wang Shijian was arrested, other comrades at Xi'an Station were also arrested one after another, and Lanzhou Station was also destroyed, and for a time, our army's northern intelligence network was seriously damaged. Jiang Jun even smugly declared that the red spy system had "fallen halfway through the country." In fact, this is an exaggeration; in addition to the Wang Shijian system, there are also many institutions in our army, such as the Pan Hannian system, the Wu Kejian system, the Liu Shaowen system, the Xi'an intelligence service system, and many other institutions, which are still working strongly and powerfully.
After Wang Shijian was arrested, the situation became very complicated, and he quickly wrote a "confession" of 10,000 words, confessing that he was a "sinner" and confessing to being a member of the intelligence network in many places and having a detailed address. The collapse of Wang Shijian's system led to the arrest of hundreds of underground organizations and the death of many.
Because Wang Shijian "confessed guilt and was punished by the law," he was first imprisoned in Nanjing and Taiwan Island prisons, and after his release from prison, he became an agent of the "Intelligence Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense" of the Chiang clique and assumed the post of director of Major General Chiang Kai-shek, and died in 1982.
Curiously, such a traitor who surrendered to apostates and betrayed his comrades should soon be classified as a traitor. However, after the founding of New China, it did not do so for a long time. The prime minister, who had been following him, had even considered exchanging him for drunkenness to return him to the mainland.
So, is Wang Shijian a traitor or not? If he was not a traitor, why would he write the Confession of Ten Thousand Words? Why are so many underground workers available?
This reveals the extraordinary "unspoken rules" of the spies, that is, falsehood, truth and falsehood. For a long time, Wang Shijian was not declared a traitor, but only had a period of internal characterization, but in 1983 he was overthrown again by his old subordinates who were familiar with him, which is enough to explain the complexity and particularity of the Wang Shijian incident, and once again let us realize that it is not easy to engage in espionage work.
