In 1942, Du Yide was appointed commander of the second sub-district of the Ji'nan Military Region.
In General Du Yide's recollection, the bloody battle with the devils in Ji'nan was the hardest day since the War of Resistance. Three months before becoming commander of the division, the Japanese launched a fierce attack on our base area, resulting in heavy losses to the troops.

In 1947, Wang Jinshan was recuperating because of his health, so according to the order of The Chief of Nakano, Du Yide was responsible for the military and political affairs of the entire army. In the ensuing battle,
