World War II: A campaign of resistance to Nazi rule

In the Occupied Europe, many people paid with their lives to defeat Nazi Germany. Their bravery and sacrifice also played a positive role in promoting the final victory of the Allies.

By their very nature, many of the war were covert activities, so there is little historical record, and the actions of many unsung heroes cannot be quantified. In the occupied areas under Nazi rule, those who resisted only slightly were usually sent to concentration camps for no apparent reason, either tortured to death or executed. Nazi retaliation against rebel groups was also very common.
