World War II ended with the defeat of the Axis powers. After the war, the Allies faced a very difficult problem, that is, the treatment of a large number of prisoners of war, a large number of prisoners of war and war criminals needed to be held, and the Allies had to disperse these people to the prisons of various countries.

Among them, the Americans received about 400,000 German prisoners of war, and they were transported to concentration camps on the American mainland.
It is not possible to say that it is a concentration camp, because some prisoners of war in concentration camps cannot leave the concentration camps, but their lives are very comfortable, not only have basic living security, but even want to lie in bed, occasionally get up to do some work to earn some money, and even watch movies and engage in planting inside, and the gathering of prisoners of war is a common activity in these concentration camps.
Of course, not everyone can go to such places, and a large number of them are still sent to places where the treatment is not so good.
This has also led to the occurrence of many jailbreak cases.
One of these events occurred in January 1444, in a prisoner-of-war camp in The 1A Region of the United States.
The camp was heinously heavily guarded, and the Americans were confident that they had accepted some 300 German naval officers.
The initial performance of these PRISONERs of War made the American army become relaxed, and they lived a lazy and comfortable life, enjoying every day here. Working on 80 cents of work, playing for three days a day, and even some people who were dissatisfied with the conditions and demanded more entertainment facilities and the right to hold banquets, these were all approved by the US military, because they felt that they had conquered these 'difficult' Germans.
In fact, the U.S. military made a fatal mistake – they underestimated the capabilities of this group of elites from Germany!
It was just a small flaw in the POW camp, a small blind spot between two war towers.
This small flaw was exploited by these German prisoners of war through precise calculations, who made a careful plan, strictly divided labor, dug a tunnel at a rate of 0.9 meters per day, and the small amount of fertilizer produced every day was all disposed of by them for the reason of building the facility, and everything was done unconsciously.
On December 20, the work was basically completed, and on December 23, with the help of a banquet held by comrades in District 1B, 25 prisoners of war in Area 1A completed their escape in an orderly manner taking advantage of the gap when the guards were attracted.
The incident was only discovered by the U.S. military the next morning, and the U.S. authorities were so shocked that they even alarmed FBI Director Edgar Hoover. They could only spread the news to the people, claiming that the prisoners of war were extremely dangerous...
The 25 people had planned to return to Their country through Mexico, but they found that the success rate of this plan was not very good, so they simply gave up their plan to flee back to Germany. They used the money they had saved to drink and have fun in the surrounding area.
In the end, the prisoners of war ran out of money and had no choice but to turn themselves in, and by January 27 of the following year, all 25 prisoners of war had returned to camp 1A.
Although this incident made the US military lose face, but these prisoners of war did not bring much harm to society, and most of them surrendered themselves, the American people did not complain about them, and finally the matter was almost gone, and almost no one was punished for this matter.
Years later, when the perpetrators were asked about it, they almost all gave unexpected answers: "Why did you do that?" It was our greatest amusement and pastime in more than a year, and it kept us in good spirits while worrying about the defeat of Germany and our loved ones. ”
