Gongsun Kuan, also known as Wenzi, was sima of the state of Chu during the reign of King Hui of Chu in the Spring and Autumn Warring States period, whose grandfather was Xiongju, the king of Chuping, and whose father was also Sima of the State of Chu, named Prince Jie (字子期).
In 476 BC, Gongsun Kuan and Gongzi Qing jointly pursued the Vietnamese army until they reached the underworld. Xiong Zhang, the king of Chuhui, planned to give Liang land to Gongsun Kuan, and Gongsun Kuan thought that Liang land was dangerous, and was worried that his future descendants would be in danger of chaos, so he asked for a change of place, and was later renamed Luyang by King Hui of Chu, known as Luyang Wenjun.
During his time at Luyang, Gongsun Kuan prepared to attack Zheng Guo, but was dissuaded by Mozi's reasoning. This Mozi is the famous thinker and philosopher Mo Zhai in the Warring States period. He put forward the views of both love, shangxian, and thrift, and was the founder of the Mojia school.
According to the "Mozi Lu Qing" section, Mozi heard the news that Gongsun Kuan was preparing to attack Zheng, so he went to Luyang to lobby.

Gongsun Kuan said, "Why did Sir stop me from attacking Zheng?" The crusade against Zheng Guo is to comply with the will of heaven. The Zheng people slaughtered the monarch, and the heavens punished them for three years of disobedience, and I will help the heavens to punish them. ”
Mozi said, "The Zheng people slaughtered the monarch, and the heavens' curse is enough!" You said that attacking Zheng was in accordance with Providence, like a man's son, fierce and violent, so he was beaten by his father. And the neighbor also went to beat him, saying that it was in accordance with his father's will, is it okay? ”
Gongsun Kuan said, "Do you mean that there are some things that can be done in the world, but they don't have to be done?" ”
Mozi said: "You attack the neighboring country, kill its people, take its cattle, horses, millet, rice, goods, and wealth, write it on bamboo draperies, engrave gold stones, and remember the bells, and pass them on to future generations." And the common people, attacking neighbors, killing neighbors, plundering neighbors' dogs, pigs, food, grain, clothing, and quilts, are also written on bamboo draperies, remembered on food utensils, and passed on to future generations. In the future, it will not be messed up! ”
Gongsun Kuan listened to Mozi's advice and did not attack Zheng Guo.
