Shi Jianqiao then assumed the pseudonym "Dong Hui" and commissioned a female layman to introduce her to Ju Shilin. Shi Jianqiao learned about Sun Chuanfang's appearance, accent, and activity rules through various channels, knowing that he would go to Jushilin every Wednesday and Saturday to listen to the scriptures, and then made specific arrangements for the assassination: he printed the prepared "Letter to the People of the Nation" and the will, intending to distribute it after the assassination; and set November 13 (Wednesday) as the day to avenge his father.
On November 13, 1935, the day of the sermon, Sun Chuanfang, who had come to listen to the sutra, sat in the center of the Buddhist hall. Shi Jian was in the back seat near the stove, far away from Sun Chuanfang, and she moved to the front row on the grounds that the fire behind her was too hot. After watching the hall people promise, Shi Jianqiao stood up, reached out and grasped the pistol under the placket, and quickly walked behind Sun Chuanfang. After the gunshots rang out, the Buddhist hall was in chaos, and Shi Jianqiao threw the "Letter to the People of the Nation" prepared in advance and the photo of his father wearing a school uniform into the crowd, loudly announced his name and the purpose of the assassination, and dialed the telephone of the police station, determined to turn himself in.
