Guan Yu was defeated and killed, the entire Jingzhou was lost, and Guan Ping, Wang Fu, Ma Liang (in the yanyi said that he returned to Chengdu in advance for help) and other talents all died tragically, so the defeat of Guan Erye was a big blow to the Shu state.
However, there is also a small episode that people can't understand. Linfeng was once Ma Chao's fiefdom, that is to say, Guan Yu passed by the territory of his colleague Ma Chao and was killed, but he was indifferent. Logically, Ma Chao's nature of not saving him was worse than Liu Feng's, but why didn't Liu Bei dispose of him?

Ma Chao did not help Guan Yu and was not held accountable by Liu Bei. So, what's the mystery?
In fact, the reason is very simple: at the time of Guan Yu's Northern Expedition, Ma Chao was no longer depressed.
As early as 218 AD, Liu Bei transferred Ma Chao away from Linshui and sent him to the town of Fengshui. It can be assumed that if Ma Chaozhen was defending Linfeng at that time, then Guan Yu fled to his territory, and this Shu Guohu would definitely lead troops to rescue him.
