With Dong Shunjie's efforts, he explored the pattern of the ebb and flow of contemporary Chinese paintings to show his distinct personality and pursuit. The photorealistic characteristics of the workmanship in his figure paintings and the changeable hues that can only be achieved by freehand brush and ink are extremely representative of the contemporary painter community. In most of his works, there are both contemporary peasant workers with a sense of "thick pen and heavy ink" and heroic figures with the state of "thick huazi". Combining atmosphere with subtlety, it shows the unique style of Sun Qi's paintings. The pen and ink are longitudinal, dry and wet, as if doing whatever you want.
The pen and ink are all down, and the chapter that seems to be indifferent reflects his deliberate exquisiteness. Layer by layer without holding the breath, swinging freely, the atmosphere is like Su Shi's so-called "when the wind and rain are fast, the pen has not yet arrived at the gas has been swallowed." Dong Shunjie's works pay attention to the expression of realism in the exploration of traditional brush and ink and contemporary ink painting, the shape is accurate and condensed, the fusion of realism, exaggeration and deformation, and the good use of ink to create a subtle and meaningful artistic conception, accumulating rich and valuable experience for the innovation and development of contemporary Chinese painting.
