When you gaze at them, they are also staring at you—my portrait is a warm invitation to the unique perception of human beings, and the implication in this is far from a dull face. All you have to do is forget the beliefs and judgments that may be indestructible.
—Almudena Angosso Alvarez
The gray days
There is an Arabic proverb that says that a person who does not look in the eye cannot understand a long speech. Gaze is the way to guess the soul of the universe, and when words are missing, the eyes always speak. So, the luxury of visually feeling the soul is perhaps the limits of realism expressed by the Spanish artist Almudena Angoso lvarez.
Summer nights
The ordinary in the spotlight
Like the Africanist Exposition in Spain in August 2018 and the "Art3f" International Art Fair in Monaco in August 2020, on October 8, 2020, at the sixth edition of the Dubai World Art Exhibition, Almudena's portraits once again came into the spotlight. After four years of perseverance, she was finally brought to the center of the stage in the spotlight.
Life without a soul is a daily reproduction of yesterday; the creation of a soul is a reproduction of mediocrity day after day. Four years ago, Almudena was one of the people who kept replicating "yesterday's mediocrity." No one can predict when, where, and in what way those "favored inspirations" will come to her head, but after more than a thousand days and nights, she is fortunate to understand the philosophy of "nurturing the extraordinary in the ordinary".

Inspiration magically came at some point in my life, when I picked up the paintbrush and the faces and eyes of the different races filled my canvas like gifts. They would ask me questions, talk to me, soothe my uneasiness, or irritate my emotions, but in the end, they would still tell me how to continue to create characters and how to gaze at my soul.
Madness
From the "human paradigm" of "Africanism" to the "light" of "Holi"
Where are you? Where do you want to go? When emotions fly over hundreds of millions of light years in an instant, their feet can only stop where they are, and there is nowhere to escape.
In Almudner's heavy and humanistic paintings, she still strives to inject a tenacious vitality into it, and in the language system that has transcended the realist portrait, emotions and thoughts are still the primary tasks of her expression.
Anthropo Morphosis (human paradigm)
Portraits of African Nations – This theme explores the sacred form of early humanity expressing symbolic meaning with circular symbols. Strong colors, real touches, from the ancestors of human beings, from simple, pure and full of wisdom of life.

Portrait of the African Soul – During my journey to Senegal, I felt an energy fill people's eyes. They have dreams, but they cannot fly; they are full of hope, but they can only look far away.

Portrait of the Soul Beyond Race
Almudena was born on 5 April 1989 in Valencia, Spain. As a painter, her grandmother was the mentor and companion of her childhood life, and she also developed an inseparable love for art from a very young age. In Almudena's childhood memories, painting gives her an unexplainable power, which is that "without leaving the chair, you can go to a different reality".
My path
At the age of 18, Almudena was admitted to the University of Barcelona to study fine arts, and after graduation, she moved to Singapore to work in the planning of art events in the local area, where she developed her professional artistic career through portraiture. Two years later, she returned to the Spanish island of Menorca, where she set up her own art studio to continue exploring the creation of new portraits of realism. During this time, she has traveled to Africa and Asia many times to live, and based on the local national culture, she has painted many oil paintings and mixed media works.
Rainy days
The smell of memories
Since 2019, Almudena has settled in Dubai. In this emerging art capital of the world, she has completed the creation and collation of the "Human Paradigm Series" and "Africanist Series" based on African life in the past four years, the "Radiance Series" that deconstructs the theme of time, and the "Holiness Festival Series" that shows the humanistic colors of India. Under the texture of oil paint, acrylic and plaster, behind the faces of life, story and emotion, they have a common name - "Portrait of the Soul".

Beyond the gaze of race, it has never lost its firm belief in the passage of time. At the extremes of realism, such a gaze represents part of the mysterious meaning of human ancestors. And I just want to perceive the inner texture of this ancient soul as an ordinary person.
