The liberation of Hainan Island in 1950 was the largest landing campaign of the Chinese People's Liberation Army since its founding. It is a glorious page in the history of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and the troops who received the battle to liberate Hainan Island were the glorious 40th Army and 43rd Army of the People's Liberation Army, and the most meritorious of them was the 40th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
The commander of the 40th Army is General Han Xianchu, deputy commander of the 12th Corps and commander of the 40th Army, who led the 40th Army from the northeast of the White Mountains and Black Water all the way to the southernmost island of the motherland, he led the 40th Army to make repeated battle achievements, making the 40th Army a steel division that the enemy fears, but this iron and steel division also has timidity, when they are on land, they are definitely a steel force, but in the face of the sea, the 40th Army's tiger unit really has to be a little angry, this group of men who have never seen the ocean. Facing the sea, I felt really small. So small that they did not know how to fight the sea, and even the 40th Army had a self-mutilation incident of the chief of staff, this unit was really afraid of facing the sea.
But the tiger general of this army, Han Xianchu, was not afraid, and it was not an exaggeration to say that he was not afraid of heaven. In order to liberate Hainan Island and strengthen the strength of the Qiongya Column on the island, the 15th Corps carried out two smuggling operations, and the 40th Army and the 43rd Army each dispatched a pioneer battalion and a pioneer regiment to cross the sea. When the 40th Army was on the second smuggling mission, General Han Xianchu decided to be led by a division-level cadre, but because it had just experienced the defeat of Kinmen Island, the 40th Army generally had a fear of the ocean, and this fear also spread among the officer cadres. The performance of the division-level cadres of the 40th Army can be said to have broken the heart of General Han Xianchu.
General Liu Zhenhua was able to stand up, in addition to the achievements that had just been promoted to the director of the political department of the division, there was also the military responsibility of General Liu Zhenhua. The soldier is the backbone of a country, and when the country and the people need it, the soldier will be the first to stand up and go to the place where he is needed, even if there is a danger of sacrifice. General Liu Zhenhua is such a real soldier, he is fearless, as long as the motherland needs him will stand up.
Although General Liu Zhenhua was only a director of the political department and could not send a division commander than the 43rd Army, General Liu Zhenhua still fulfilled the task very well, first leading nearly 3,000 people of the cross-sea pioneer regiment to forcibly cross the Qiongzhou Strait, break through the tidal flats surrounded by the Kuomintang's heavy troops, and join the Qiongya column, on April 16, 1950, the 40th Army and the 43rd Army landed on Hainan Island in a large scale, Liu Zhenhua led the smuggling troops to cooperate closely with the Qiongya Column, breaking through the enemy's coastal blockade line and converging with the large troops. Together, they encircled and suppressed the Kuomintang defenders on the island.
General Liu Zhenhua stepped forward in the campaign to liberate Hainan Island and made important contributions to the liberation of Hainan Island, and his move also changed his future fate and made him more valued by the troops. Only those who can fight and dare to fight are the talents that the troops need. General Liu Zhenhua then received the rank of general in 1988.
