The Second Column of the Northeast Field Army, later the 39th Army of the People's Liberation Army, was formerly known as the Red 15th Army and the 344th Brigade of the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army, of which Xu Haidong was the commander of the army. The main force of the second column was the 5th Division, the predecessor of the 5th Division was the 78th Red Division in Northern Shaanxi, and Han Xianchu was the first division commander.
In fact, Han Xianchu had nothing to do with the Red 78Th Division at the earliest. Han Xianchu was a disciple of Dabie Mountain, a native of Huang'an, Hubei Province, and initially joined the Red 25th Army in the Eyu-Anhui base area. After following the Long March of the Red 25th Army to northern Shaanxi, Han Xianchu had already been promoted from the second-line soldier of the logistics force to the main regimental commander by relying on solid military merit.
After the Red 25th Army and the local Red 26th Army and 27th Army in northern Shaanxi met the division, they jointly formed the Red 15th Army, the Red 26th Army was downsized to the Red 78th Division, and Han Xianchu was appointed as the first division commander.
A month later, the Central Red Army arrived in northern Shaanxi, and the Central Military Commission decided that the Red 15th Army would march west with the Red 1st Army. After the Red Army was reorganized into the Eighth Route Army, the Red 78th Division was reorganized into the 689th Regiment of the 115th Division, and Han Xianchu was the first regimental commander. The Southern Manchuria base area where the Fourth Column was located at that time was surrounded by kuomintang compression and became the only base area of the Communist Party south of the Songhua River, and the conditions could be imagined. The officers and men of the Fourth Column had been starving for a long time, and the troops were short of food and guns; at that time, some people said that the troops could not even fight down a few "shacks." The 3rd Column of the Northeast Field Army was formerly known as the 3rd Division of the Shandong Military Region of the Eighth Route Army, the 3rd Brigade of the Shandong Garrison, and the 16th Military Subdistrict of the Jireliao Military Region, and was merged into the 3rd Column of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army in January 1946.
In September 1947, Han Xianchu was transferred from the deputy commander of the fourth column to the commander of the third column. But Han Xianchu's fate with Sanzhong did not begin at this time.
In the spring of 1947, in the final battle of Sibao Linjiang, the superior ordered the 3rd Column and the 10th Division of the 4th Column to act jointly to form a forward command and jointly attack the invading enemy. The Kuomintang army had 7 divisions and 20 regiments of more than 100,000 people, divided into left, center and right three road groups approaching Linjiang.
On the question of who to strike first, zeng Kelin, commander of the third column, and Han Xianchu, deputy commander of the fourth column, had a disagreement. Zeng Kelin wanted to attack the 20th Provisional Division of the Dian Dynasty, which was the weakest in the middle road, and Han Xianchu wanted to attack the 89th Division of Jiang Junyuan, which was the most prominent in the middle road. Zeng Kelin's plan was to be prudent, but Han Xianchu carefully studied his opponent and believed that this 89th Division was arrogant and arrogant, had just been transferred from Rehe, was not familiar with the northeast battlefield, and the light enemy of the unit ventured forward, which just gave our army the opportunity to annihilate him.
The two men held their own opinions, the two plans were reported at the same time, and finally the military region called back: unified command by Han Xianchu. As a result, the enemy's 89th Division was completely annihilated by our army in only 10 hours, the division commander was captured, and the Fourth Defense Battle of Linjiang was successfully concluded.
As the deputy commander of the fourth column, he commanded the three columns, which was the earliest fate between Han Xianchu and the three columns. Half a year later, Han Xianchu, who had already served as commander of the Third Column, was in the column headquarters to listen to Luo Shunchu, the political commissar of the Third Column, give a briefing on the autumn offensive, and the task of the Third Column was to annihilate the enemy 116th Division between Weiyuan Fort and Xifeng in Kaiyuan County.
Han Xianchu stared at the map and thought, Weiyuan Fort is the location of the enemy division, but there is only one regiment of defenders stationed here, and the field fortifications are also very simple, which is a deadly and weak place. If this is attacked, the enemy will certainly come to the rescue, and the troops can ambush them in the middle of the road and completely annihilate them. But the difficulty of this plan is that it requires troops to run long distances. But this front is close to roads and railways, and it is convenient for mechanized enemies to move back and forth, and it is very unfavorable for our army. Once the two legs of our soldiers cannot run the enemy's trains and cars, the consequences will be unimaginable.
Therefore, political commissar Luo Shunchu formulated a plan to first attack the enemy in Xifeng and then concentrate the main force of the whole column to expand the results of the battle in depth. However, Han Xianchu had full confidence in his warriors and proposed to attack Weiyuan Fort first. The two men blushed and their necks thickened, and the two plans were once again reported to the East General Manager at the same time.
The next afternoon, Dong Zong's reply arrived: "According to Han Xianchu's plan."
The most effective blow in the war was unexpected, the enemy of Weiyuan Fort never expected that the People's Liberation Army could be far away from the near, and finally the surprise attack was a complete victory, and the enemy division commander was captured.
