In order to warmly celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, after two months of rehearsal and repeated revision, the large-scale musical and dance epic "Liberation of Hainan Island" completed its first performance at the Hainan Provincial Song and Dance Theater on June 30, 2021. On December 23, 2021, as a key work selected for the "100 Years and 100 Works" creative plan of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, "Liberation of Hainan Island" was reported and performed at the Hainan Provincial Song and Dance Theater and passed the acceptance of the expert group.
As an important cultural event during the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, it is of great significance for the musical and dance epic "Liberation of Hainan Island" to be exhibited and performed in Beijing. In order to better present the work to the audience in Beijing, since January 10, more than 140 main creators led by the national first-class director Deng Lin have gathered in Haikou to rearrange and revise in more than ten days. "In this beijing exhibition, we have made appropriate compression on the basis of the original work." As a script creation and lyricist for the performance, Zou Youkai said, "Good works must be carefully carved and received when they see good, so that the audience will not have aesthetic fatigue." ”
The performance combines Hainan's excellent traditional culture and the historical theme of the Red Classic Revolution, highlighting the heroic pictures and touching situations of the major historical themes - the liberation war on Hainan Island, and at the same time innovatively integrating Hainan folk customs into the program arrangement, showing Hainan's profound cultural heritage to the whole country. Zou Youkai said, "The liberation of Hainan Island is a historical truth, and this work restores it to the truth of art. It itself is very touching, and in the process of creation, it is very necessary to sink down to experience and feel slowly. I myself was deeply moved, and the work itself has not only historical significance, but also practical significance. ”
