"The Third Wave", "International Commercial Law", "Deng Xiaoping Era"... In the past 40 years of reform and opening up, Shenzhen's development and reading are inseparable, and it is the love of reading and respect for knowledge that have injected a strong impetus into shenzhen's rapid development.
On January 9, Southern Media's "Lingnan Culture New Lecture" event ushered in the first lecture of 2022.
Hu Hongxia, a senior media person and publisher in Shenzhen, visited Nanfeng Academy and interpreted the development process of Shenzhen in the past 40 years through forty kinds of books that have been "heavily connected" with shenzhen history, using "reading history" as an incision. Mr. Zhou Ke, a veteran media person in Guangzhou, served as the host and guest of honor. (For more news, please pay attention to Yangcheng Pie pai.ycwb.com)

The spirit of Shenzhen in 40 books
"Originally, as a Shenzhen native, I did not dare to talk about Lingnan culture, but I dare to talk about 'new talk', because Shenzhen is good at 'new talk'." Hu Hongxia's opening remarks caused a burst of laughter at the scene.
"40 Books in 40 Years" is a list selected for the 40th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in 2020. Hu Hongxia introduced that this is an attempt to look at urban development from the perspective of reading history. In the past, more research was on the history of books and publications, which were summarized from the perspective of the supply side, and the research from the perspective of the demand side was the first time in Shenzhen. Hu Hongxia laughed and said, "There is a big advantage in doing things in Shenzhen, that is, it is particularly easy to become the first." ”
According to Hu Hongxia, some of these 40 books were born in Shenzhen, but more are from all over the country and even around the world. What they have in common is that there has been a place in Shenzhen's 40-year history, a certain role has occurred, and there are memorable stories behind the book and the author.
Among the list, the earliest is "The Third Wave", which was born in 1980, and the most recent is "The Legend of Yuan Geng", published in 2020. Some have played an important role in emancipating the mind of Shenzhen, such as the futuristic book "The Third Wave", the "Digital Survival" that promoted the rise of Shenzhen's Internet industry, and the "International Business Law" that Ren Zhengfei required Huawei's management to be compulsory;
Some are summaries of the historical experience of reform and opening up, such as "Window of Hope", "The Mystery of Shenzhen's Sphinx", "Guangdong in Reform", "Deng Xiaoping Era"; some are important literary works born in Shenzhen in the past 40 years, representing the "Shenzhen power" of the Chinese literary world, such as Liu Xihong's "You Cannot Change Me", Wen Xi's "Wild Orchid" and so on;
Mr. Hu Hongxia presents the stories behind the 40 books one by one on the axis of time, bringing the audience back to the exciting moments of Shenzhen in the past 40 years and feeling the magnificent waves of this 40-year journey.
Guangdong People's Publishing House's 1991 "Guangdong in Reform" (vogel) was selected as "Shenzhen 40 Books in 40 Years"
In Hu Hongxia's view, these 40 books are also the embodiment of the "Shenzhen Spirit". On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in 2010, Shenzhen once selected the "Top Ten Most Influential Concepts in Shenzhen", including "Time is Money, Efficiency is Life" and "Let the City Be Respected for Its Love of Reading" and other concepts, which constitute the spiritual context of Shenzhen.
Shenzhen's DNA is learning
In the ensuing dialogue, Zhou Ke and Hu Hongxia discussed the selection criteria for 40 books, the role played by the publishing industry in Guangdong, and the reading temperament and cultural identity of Shenzhen people from the perspective of media people in the two places.
Zhou Ke said that thinking about reading from the perspective of the audience is a relatively rare research direction. He wanted to know what kind of readers in Shenzhen were in Hu Hongxia's mind, as the audience for these 40 books.
Hu Hongxia believes that many people ignore that Shenzhen is actually a "learning city". Shenzhen is the only "Model City for All" in the world to be awarded by UNESCO.
Shenzhen's per capita book purchases have ranked first in the country for 31 consecutive years. Among the "Ten Concepts", there are two related to culture, and the "Shenzhen Reading Month" has been held for more than 20 years and has been very prosperous.
So, why did Shenzhen become such a city? Hu Hongxia pointed out that as a special zone, Shenzhen's mission is brand new, and everything must be learned from scratch. Whether it is the "vanguard" or the "experimental field", in the final analysis, it is all about learning. The same is true for Shenzhen people.
"They came to Shenzhen from all over the world to face the world alone. They want to change their destiny, and there are no other resources to rely on, only to learn and read. ”
In addition, the atmosphere of reading for all in Shenzhen is also inseparable from the support of hardware facilities. Hu Hongxia introduced that the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government implemented the strategy of "one district, one book city, one street and one book bar", and so far built 6 book city cultural complexes with an area of more than 30,000 square meters and more than 700 physical bookstores of various types, the book city is located in the best location in each district, and the small book bar is blooming in the streets and alleys.
Hu Hongxia said: "Shenzhen's genes are learning, which is worth every Shenzhen people are proud of. ”
