After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he was transferred from the deputy director of the General Supply Department of the Eighth Route Army to the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region, and began a 10-year military command career. Under Nie Rongzhen, he served as commander of the military sub-district, commander of the Jin-Jin Military Region, commander of the Ji-Jin Column, and chief of staff of the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region.
Until 1948, the North China Military Region was established, and he served as chief of staff and commander of the Logistics Command, responsible for the logistics support work of qingfengdian, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan and other campaigns.
In 1949, the main force of The Four Fields went south to liberate the central and southern regions, and he and Xiao Ke were transferred to the chief of staff of the Four Fields, Xiao Ke was responsible for combat, and he was responsible for logistics.
After the title was awarded, why did you not want to wear the general's uniform
Since Zhao Erlu was awarded the rank of general, he rarely wore a general's uniform in informal occasions, and he only took a group photo with his family once, which seemed unnatural, and when he returned home, he took it off and asked his wife to help him put it up. In 1952, he was transferred to the Ministry of Machinery of the Second and First Industries, responsible for the defense industry. In 1959, on the 10th anniversary of the National Day, all the troops on parade were equipped with domestic standard weapons, which was inseparable from his efforts. When the state stepped up its efforts to develop two bombs and one satellite, he also made a great contribution.
On February 2, 1967, he worked in his office and silently said goodbye due to overwork.
