After the founding of New China, Zhao Erlu's main work was almost all in the cause of national defense, in addition, he also paid close attention to "two bombs and one satellite", so let's say that his last life was left to his own work, on February 2, 1967, Zhao Erlu died in Beijing at the age of 62.
General Zhao Erlu was born in 1905 in Beisanquan Village, Xiecun Township, Chengxian County, Shanxi Province, and once studied in Taiyuan, and his beginnings to contact with progressive ideas were actually related to the time of study, and when he was a student, he often participated in some anti-imperialist and patriotic student movements, and he hated the imperialist aggression against old China and was indignant about the inaction of domestic warlords.
In 1927, Zhao Erlu participated in the Nanchang Uprising, which was also the year he joined the Communist Party of China, and later Zhao Erlu followed Zhu Laozong to Jinggangshan, and during the Jinggangshan period, Comrade Zhao Erlu successively served as the party representative of the 28th Regiment of the 4th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, the leader of the regimental heavy team, the party representative of the 1st Column Teaching Team, the party representative of the 2nd Detachment and the leader of the detachment.
In fact, during the period of the agrarian revolution, almost all the work held by Zhao Erlu was related to military supplies, such as the director of the quartermaster department, the director of the supply department of the 1st Army, etc. Indeed this job is very important, and it is this that the war depends on, so for Zhao Erlu, his responsibility is really very large, but he has done his best to complete the task every time, and it is also common to get praise from his superiors.
With the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in full swing, Zhao Erlu immediately became deputy director of the General Supply Department of the Eighth Route Army and provided a very sufficient logistical supply for the operations of the Eighth Route Army.
In the Battle of Yanbei in 1945, Zhao Erlu led his troops to successfully break the three blockade lines of the Japanese puppet army and established forward positions for further opening up the area north of the Pingsui Railway and the eastern Sui.
During the Liberation War, Comrade Zhao Erlu also served as chief of staff of the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region, chief of staff of the North China Military Region, and commander of the Logistics Command, during which he commanded and participated in many campaigns to liberate North China, and he was also responsible for the logistical support work of many battles.
After the founding of New China, Zhao Erlu successively served as chief of staff of the Central and Southern Military Region, minister of the Second Machinery Industry Department, minister of the First Machinery Industry Department, and executive deputy director of the National Defense Industry Office of the State Council.
Among them, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhao Erlu's greatest credit is undoubtedly in the national defense industry, under his leadership, we have prepared to build a professional scientific research institution such as electric vacuum, optics, aviation technology and special materials, and successfully produced heavy machine guns, mortars, 100 anti-aircraft guns, 122 howitzers and other weapons and equipment under the independent efforts.
In addition, Zhao Erlu's nephew is also extremely excellent, he is the People's Liberation Army Major General Zhao Shuolong, who was the commander of the Gansu Military Region.
