Jingzhou, which has always been a place of contention for soldiers, more than 1800 years ago, it once again concentrated the attention of Cao Cao, Liu Bei and Sun Quan. Four maps to show you exactly.
Jingzhou originated from Jingzhou, which can be regarded as a long history, and it has a place in the nine states of Yugong, and the thirteen states of the Western Han Dynasty are still listed.
At that time, Jingzhou was bordered by the Lieutenant Department of the Division to the north, yangzhou and Yuzhou Thorn History Department to the east, Yizhou Thorn History Department to the west, and Jiaozhou Thorn History Department to the south, and the Yangtze River ran through it, and its five major tributaries, Xiangshui, Zishui, Lishui, Yuanshui and Hanshui, spread throughout the north and south of Jingzhou.
During the Western Han Dynasty, Jingzhou included seven places, including Nanyang County, Nan County, Jiangxia County, Guiyang County, Wuling County, Lingling County, and Changsha Kingdom.
During the Eastern Han Dynasty, the state of Changsha was renamed Changsha County, and the prefectures of Yan County, Danshui, and Fengxiang, which were originally subordinate to the Lieutenant Department of the Division, were incorporated into Nanyang County, and nothing else was changed.
In 213, Cao Cao was given the title of Duke of Wei, and in order to expand his territory of Jizhou, Emperor Xian of Han ordered the restoration of Yugong Jiuzhou. In this way, Jizhou annexed Youzhou and Hezhou. Speaking of Jizhou, it was originally the head of Kyushu, Yao Shunyu had practiced the throne in Pingyang, and now hezhou has returned to Cao Cao's name, and it seems that Cao Cao's desire to covet the throne has long been there.
In addition to Jizhou, the original Jiaozhou was divided into two, of which 5 counties, including Cangwu, Nanhai, Jiuzhen, Jiaozhi, and Ninan, were incorporated into Jingzhou, so that Jingzhou had twelve counties (of which Zhangling County was abolished by Cao Cao and merged into Nanyang County).
The first stage of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms in Jingzhou
In 209, shortly after the Battle of Chibi, Zhou Yu defeated Cao Ren and occupied Nan Commandery, while Liu Bei took the opportunity to go south and occupy the four southern counties of Jingzhou, so Jingzhou was divided into three.
Cao Cao: Nanyang County, Jiangxia County's Shiyang, Nanxin City, Anlu, Yanguo, Xiyang, Pingchun, Yanxian, Zhongwu and other places Sun Quan: Nan County, Jiangxia County's Shaxian, E, Puchun, Xiayan, Yi, Xiling, Jinling, Yundu and other places, Changsha County's Xiajun, Liuyang, Lukou and other places. Liu Bei: Wuling County, Lingling County, Guiyang County, Changsha County. Phase II
In 210, Sun Quan took Lu Su's advice and lent Nan Commandery to Liu Bei. As a result, Liu Bei sat in Jiangling, while Lu Su retreated to Lukou (Battle of Chibi) in Changsha County.
In 211, Liu Bei entered Yizhou at the invitation of Zhang Songzhi. In 213, Zhuge Liang, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, and others were ordered to march into Yizhou, and Jingzhou was fully controlled by Guan Yu.
Soon after, Lejin and Wen ping, who were stationed in Xiangyang, took the opportunity to attack Guan Yu and occupy Linfeng and Fengguo, and then merged into Nanyang County.
Phase III
In 215, Sun Quan demanded that Liu Bei return Nan Commandery ( 南郡 ) , but Liu Bei shirked it on the grounds that he had not yet occupied Hanzhong. Sun Quan was furious and sent Lü Mengnan to invade the three counties of Changsha, Guiyang, and Lingling. Liu Bei immediately sent troops into Jingzhou, and Guan Yu led an army of 30,000 to confront Lu Su at Yiyang, Changsha. Seeing that the great war was about to break out, at this time, Cao Cao marched into Hanzhong, Yizhou Bashi County was in a hurry, Liu Bei quickly shook hands with Sun Quan and made peace, using Xiangshui as the boundary to redivide Jingzhou.
Stage IV
In 219, after the Battle of Hanzhong, Cao Cao had not yet returned to Luoyang. At the same time, Sun Quan sent troops to attack Hefei, and Cao Cao dispatched troops to urgently rescue the Eastern Front. Guan Yu took the opportunity to launch the Battle of Xiangfan, flooded the Seventh Army, captured it, and beheaded Pound, once besieging Fancheng.
At this time, Sun Quan suddenly rebelled against the water and decided to take the opportunity to retake Nan County. Lü Meng had always been eyeing Guan Yu, and after receiving Sun Quan's orders, he immediately attacked the three counties of Nan County, Lingling, and Wuling.
However, Guan Yu mistakenly caught Xu Huang's trick to lure the enemy at the front line, and the defensive line was destroyed, and he could only retreat to Jiangling. On the way, he learned that Jiangling had fallen and was forced to retreat to Maicheng, and later on the way to Fangling, where Meng Da was located, he was intercepted and killed by the Wu generals Pan Zhang and Zhu Ran in Linfeng.
At this point, the entire Jingzhou line in Liu Bei's hands fell into the hands of Sun Quan.
As for which city corresponds to the current city in Jingzhou, where Guan Yu is located, it is too much, and you can refer to the maps of different stages. Among them, the brown characters indicate the place names of the current city names, while the black characters are the place names of the late Han Dynasty. Of course, Guan Yu's seat of government in Jingzhou was Jiangling, which was exactly the same as today's Jiangling.
