However, there are also many opinions about the cause of death of Yongtai Princess Li Xianhui, according to the official history, in the first year of Jiushi (700), Li Xianhui, who was initially crowned as the lord of Yongtai County, married Wu Yanji, the eldest son of Wu Chengsi the Prince of Wei, in the first year of Dazu (701), Li Xianhui's brother Li Chongrun and Wu Yanji privately discussed Wu Zetian's "male favorite" Zhang brothers, and Li Xianhui was also involved.
When Wu Zetian learned of this, he executed Li Xianhui, Li Chongrun, and Wu Yanji, and the Zizhi Tongjian records that "Empress Dowager Chunqiu was high, and Zhang Yi's brother in political affairs was discussed secretly by his sister Wu Yanji, the lord of Yongtai County, and his son-in-law Wu Yanji the Prince of Wei. For more than a thousand years, historians have believed that Li Xianhui was killed by Wu Zetian, but in 1982, the tombstone of the "Tombstone of Princess Yongtai of the Tang Dynasty" was unearthed in the tomb of Princess Yongtai, which read: "The pearl fetus destroyed the moon", that is to say, Li Xianhui died due to difficult childbirth, because her brother and husband were given death by Wu Zetian because of the discussion of the Zhang brothers, Li Xianhui was pregnant at this time, and was not immediately disposed of, but because of the panic and fear in her heart, she eventually died in childbirth.
