After 12.1 billion "cleared" Huawei, the contradiction finally broke out! No wonder the U.S. 5G divides more and more

5G network is the latest communication technology standard in modern society, when it comes to 5G core network technology, then the first thing that everyone thinks of is definitely Huawei. Huawei accounts for 21% of 5G patents, ranking first in the world, while the second ranked Samsung, only 12%, the United States is all companies' 5G core technology patents combined, less than 15%.

You know, in the previous communication market, the United States patented technology has been leading the world, the United States Qualcomm, Apple and other companies hold a lot of advanced communication patents, but also charge a large number of patent fees to other countries every year. Huawei has shown super research and development capabilities on 5G networks, breaking the global communications market monopoly in the United States.

In order to curb Huawei's development, the United States used the "excuse" of security risks in Huawei's equipment to require small operators in the United States to dismantle Huawei's equipment, and even took out 1.9 billion US dollars (equivalent to 12.1 billion yuan) to subsidize operators.

So after the United States dismantled Huawei equipment, how is 5G developing now?

On December 28, 2021, network testing service OoKla announced the latest 5G development in the United States. The penetration of 5G networks in the United States has reached 49.2%, ranking first in the world.

But in fact, 5G networks in the United States are not only very poor in signal, but also very expensive.

5G network base stations are divided into centimeter wave and millimeter wave. The United States dismantled the centimeter wave base station used by Huawei and chose the millimeter wave base station. Although millimeter waves are faster than centimeter waves, they are more difficult to develop and more expensive to build.

5G millimeter wave has a fatal problem, that is, the coverage distance is very short, only 150 meters, and it is very easy to be obscured by tall trees or buildings.

In order to solve the problems of short coverage distance and easy to be occluded, operators in the United States can only increase the number of base stations for millimeter wave.

However, millimeter wave base stations are expensive, the US government subsidized $1.9 billion is only enough to dismantle Huawei's equipment, and the later construction and maintenance operators need to continue to invest a lot of money, and these costs must be recovered from users.

For the sparsely populated United States, it is obvious that centimeter waves are more cost-effective. Although the transmission speed of centimeter wave is slightly inferior, its penetration is strong and the coverage area is very wide. For example, China Mobile, the three major operators in China, has a coverage of about 424 meters, while Telecom and China Unicom are at 322 meters, which is double or even double the coverage of millimeter wave base stations.

The United States originally wanted to boycott Huawei products to limit Huawei's development, but it did not expect that it is now lifting a stone to drop its own feet, and the United States has also paid a price for this behavior.

Recently, U.S. airlines and telecom operators have also quarreled over 5G network issues. U.S. telecom operators AT&T and Verizon were preparing to deploy a 5G network on Jan. 5, but American airlines interfered with the aircraft's electronic equipment in the C-band of the 5G network, thus endangering aviation safety. As a result, the two operators were asked to stop the deployment of 5G networks and postpone it until two weeks later.

In November last year, the two operators received a notice from the US Aviation Administration, so they postponed the plan to January 5 this year, but they did not expect that the 5G network in the United States was difficult to produce.

After 12.1 billion "cleared" Huawei, the contradiction finally broke out! No wonder the U.S. 5G divides more and more

Huawei President Ren Zhengfei said that although Huawei is doing centimeter wave millimeter wave, we insist that centimeter wave represents the prospect of 5G, but we bet right, millimeter wave can not be widely used in a short period of time, our company judges that it will take ten years later.

But ten years later, 5G has been deployed globally, bandwidth has been exhausted, whether the new cellular system can be used is still a problem, so Huawei's choice of centimeter wave on the 5G network is the right bet.

Therefore, no matter what, striving to develop yourself and improving your scientific and technological strength is the last word, blindly hindering the development of others, in order to ensure your own status, the final result will only be more than worth the loss. At the same time, I also hope that Huawei can continue to work hard to develop more scientific research results and lead Chinese science and technology to the world.
