The mortals take what they want, and they do not taste the pure, and they go, and the evil does not taste the pure and goes. The old man is motionless and cannot be left without power. If the balance is not correct, the county is heavy on the yang, and the people think that it is light; the light county is in the middle, and the people think it is heavy; so the person is confused by the light and heavy. If the power is not right, it is a curse to desire, and man thinks it is a blessing; he is blessed with evil, and man thinks it is a curse; and so he is confused by misfortune. The Taoist is also the right power of the ancient and the modern, but if he deviates from the Tao and chooses himself, he does not know the blessings of misfortune. (Xunzi Zhengming, Chapter 22, 16)

When people seek it, they may not be able to get it completely; when they want to give it up, they may not be able to completely get rid of what they hate. Therefore, no matter what people do, they are inseparable from a standard of measurement.

If the balance is not correct, the county is heavy on the yang, and the people think that it is light; the light county is in the middle, and the people think it is heavy; so the person is confused by the light and heavy.

If the scale is not accurate, the heavy thing will be hung up, and people will regard it as light; the light thing will be hung up and will go down, and people will treat it as heavy; this is the reason why people are confused about the weight.

If the power is not right, it is a curse to desire, and man thinks it is a blessing; he is blessed with evil, and man thinks it is a curse; and so he is confused by misfortune.

If the yardstick of behavior is not accurate, the calamity will be placed in his pursuit, and he will think that he is in happiness; happiness is attached to the things he hates, and he thinks that it is a calamity; and this is the reason why people are confused about the misfortunes.

The Taoist is also the right power of the ancient and the modern, but if he deviates from the Tao and chooses himself, he does not know the blessings of misfortune.

The Tao is the accurate measure of things from ancient times to the present; if you leave the Tao and choose from your heart, you will not know where the misfortunes are.

Many people say that they want to follow their hearts, so how to follow the heart, what kind of heart to follow, is the angel side, or the devil's side, so we need a measurement standard - the Tao, that is, the objective standard, leaving the objective standard and following the so-called heart, letting go of yourself, it is inevitable that you will go astray, unable to distinguish between misfortune and blessing.
