The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement in the late Qing Dynasty was the largest peasant uprising in Chinese history, which began in 1851 and lasted for 14 years, affecting as many as 17 provinces. However, the limitations of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom also doomed such a peasant revolution to the ultimate failure, and after Hong Xiuquan's death, his son did not live many years.
There were many reasons for the failure of the Taiping Rebellion, the premature political decay of the leading clique, the inability of the organization to maintain unity, the mistakes of military strategy, the lack of diplomatic experience, and so on. In fact, the most important thing is caused by the limitations of the peasant class, we all know that Hong Xiuquan was just a student who fell behind, and finally his indignation and injustice against the corruption and oppression of the Qing government and the injustice of fate. At the beginning, he did not have anything, under the slogan of religion, he co-opted a bunch of followers, and formed a leadership group with Hong Xiuquan as the core and Feng Yunshan, Yang Xiuqing, Xiao Chaogui, Wei Changhui, and Shi Dakai as the backbone. Unfortunately, later in their internal struggle for power and profit, the inherent feudal bureaucratic ideology was deep. After a cannibalistic killing, it slowly disintegrated from within, and eventually the vigorous peasant movement ended in failure.
After Hong Xiuquan's death, his son Hong Tianguifu ascended to the throne at the age of 14, and in the face of such a mess, Hong Tianguifu certainly could not solve it. In the end, he had to run, and after being caught by the Qing army, he pushed all the faults to Lao Tzu and his subordinates in order to survive. He even wrote a poem: "It is difficult to follow the long hair, and it is dangerous to fly east and west." Now with my brother home day, go back to study and test Xiucai. It is estimated that Hong Xiuquan himself did not expect his son to die like this, but in order to survive, what can no one do?
