After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the two parties should have united and cooperated to build the country, and the Chongqing negotiations gave the people hope for peace. However, all efforts failed to avoid the full-scale outbreak of civil war, and the Kuomintang began in June 1946, threatening to eliminate the Communist Party within half a year, sending 500,000 troops to attack the Liberated Areas of Shandong.
In September 1946, the Kuomintang army attacked from northern Jiangsu in the direction of Linyi, the capital of the Shandong Liberated Area. The three platoons of the Coastal Guard Brigade built fortifications at Yuntai Temple (present-day Yuntai Temple, Pizhou City, Jiangsu Province) near Guanhu Lake in Pixian County, Jiangsu Province, to block the attack. It is only more than ten kilometers away from Shandong, which is the southern gate of the Liberated Area, and the consequences once lost are unimaginable.
After the battle of Yuntai Temple began, the enemy army pounced on the position with a company of troops, under the cover of dense firepower. Only thirty meters away from the front, the three platoon commanders commanded the entire platoon of officers and men to throw grenades at the enemy together, and suddenly the smoke of gunfire filled the air, the dust flew, and the enemy who was bombed and wounded more than thirty people, and hurriedly retreated.
The enemy, who was not willing to accept defeat, tried in vain to destroy the positions of the three platoons with fierce artillery fire, but the officers and men of the three platoons became more and more courageous in the war, relying on bunkers and tunnels to fight tenaciously against the enemy. After the artillery fire, the enemy launched four more onslaughts, three platoons calmly responded, flexibly used tactics, and set up a grenade group, a machine gun group, and a blocking group to carry out attacks. With little ammunition left, they collected guns and ammunition from enemy corpses.

After a day and night of fierce fighting, the three platoons were firmly nailed to the position like a steel nail, and the enemy was never able to advance one step. After the battle, the three platoons were awarded the honorary title of "Yuntai Temple Platoon" by the East China Military Region. In November 1946, the 26th Division of the Kuomintang Army, with the cooperation of the First Rapid Column, occupied Yixian and Zaozhuang and then attacked in the direction of Linyi. The Seven Companies of the Three Battalions of the Coastal Guard Brigade, to which the "Yuntai Temple Platoon" belonged, were stationed in Xinxing Street, Zhao Ling County (present-day Xixinxing Village, Xinxing Town, Lanling County) to take on the task of blocking the enemy's attack.
West of Xinxing Street is Fushan Pass, because this place is between two mountains, the middle of the village was the only automobile road connecting Linyi and Yixian at that time, Ye Fei, then commander of the first column of the Shandong Field Army, with favorable terrain, has launched a "tug-of-war" battle with the Kuomintang army for several days, and both sides have paid a lot of casualties.
Eager for victory, the Kuomintang army sent all the tanks and artillery of the rapid column to the battlefield of Fushan Pass, and under the cover of heavy equipment, occupied Fushan Pass. The field army was forced to retreat, relying on the favorable terrain of Shichenggu, Jianshan, and large and small green mountains to continue to block the enemy.
The Seventh Company was responsible for blocking the enemy in front of Daqingshan and fighting with the main force of the Yamano 1st Column. The enemy attacked frantically for twenty-three days, but he was unable to move forward. On the twenty-fourth day, under the cover of aircraft, the enemy used tanks and howitzers to launch an onslaught on Daqingshan. Despite heavy casualties, the Seventh Company still shouted the slogan of "coexisting and dying with the position", fought with the attacking enemy with bayonets, and finally held the position.
After the victory of the battle, only more than 20 people were left with more than 150 people in the seventh company, and the seventh squad of the third platoon was named "Zhang Yanxi Class" because of the bravery of the squad leader Zhang Yanxi, and the second squad of the first platoon was named "Daqingshan Class".
The spirit of heroism will always be passed on
After the Battle of Lunan, the "Yuntai Temple Platoon" successively participated in the Battle of Laiwu, the Battle of Menglianggu, the Battle of Jinan, and the Battle of Huaihai. In the Battle of Jinan, they were tasked with attacking the commercial port, and the soldiers submitted letters of determination. Fan Fude, Ding Shaoji, and Zhang Youcai wrote in the letter of determination: "The battle of the commercial port is related to the success or failure of the overall situation of the Jinan campaign, and in order to take the commercial port, we are not afraid of bloodshed and sacrifice!" "Because of the fierce fire of the bunkers on the streets of the commercial port, the three of them used the trenches to flexibly avoid the enemy fire, and then two of them took cover, and one of them blew up the bunkers on the street with explosive packs. After the war, the three were rated as "invincible three warriors" by the Party Committee of the Ninth Division.

After the liberation of the whole country, the ministry participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and after returning to China, it was stationed in the northeast frontier, but their heroic spirit has always been inherited, and they are known as the vanguard of the vanguard and the tip of the knife on the sharp knife. In particular, in 1987, when extinguishing the huge forest fire in Daxing'anling, the "Yuntai Temple Platoon" used only the shovel in his hand to open the isolation zone without a large saw and an axe, showing the true character of the officers and men who resolutely completed the urgent, difficult, dangerous, and heavy tasks in peacetime.
