On January 5, 30 days before the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the "Olympic Book House" jointly established by the Capital Library and the Capital Institute of Physical Education, the Sports Branch of the Capital Library, was officially inaugurated, which is the first Olympic-themed library in Beijing to open to the public. The museum is located in a house on the south side of the campus of The First Body University, with an area of about 300 square meters.
As a municipal "dragon head library", the Capital Library is responsible for coordinating and guiding the planning, construction and development of the city's public libraries. The Capital Institute of Physical Education is the cradle of sports talent, producing numerous world champions and national champions. The Olympic Book House jointly built by the two sides not only promotes sports and the Olympic spirit, but also provides a good place for citizens, teachers and students to read, adding to the cultural color of the city.
On the 5th, nearly 50 teachers and students from the Affiliated Middle School of Beijing Jiaotong University took the lead in coming to the Olympic Book House to carry out the "Reading for the Winter Olympics" activity. Children can see more than 2,000 sports-themed books Chinese and nearly a thousand Olympic-themed books in foreign languages. The computer in the electronic reading room can also query 3 million e-books, more than 500,000 audiobooks, as well as tens of thousands of electronic newspapers and high-quality digital resources such as the "Digital Winter Olympics".
The Olympic Bookstore is currently a member of the Beijing Municipal Public Library Card Service System and has a pass-through service. That is to say, readers who borrow books here can return books in 395 large and small libraries in the city that have the function of borrowing and returning. Conversely, books borrowed in other members of the card service system can also be returned here.
The bookstore also opened the Capital Library and 14 district-level libraries with on-call book on-call value-added services. Mao Yajun, director of the Capital Library, introduced: "The Olympic Book House is included in the beijing public cultural service system, and with the help of the Internet and the Book Internet of Things, it brings great convenience to teachers, students and surrounding citizens to enjoy public cultural services. This is the exploration of public libraries in the new format of 'culture, sports and tourism', and it is to promote the innovative development of the reading service model for all." ”
In addition to the distinctive collections, massive electronic resources and convenient service network, the Olympic Book House will also hold exhibition displays, theme reading activities and other services. "The bookstore will be committed to becoming an important channel for promoting the people to share the Olympic Games; becoming a high-quality medium for publicizing Olympic knowledge and promoting Olympic culture; and becoming a new platform for promoting excellent traditional culture and innovating reading for all." Chen Zuosong, vice president of the Capital Institute of Physical Education, made a promise to the readers who will come to the bookstore.
The Bookstore is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00.
