2022 picture quality benchmark, Sony released 5 new TVs, the world's first QD-OLED screen!

On January 5, Sony, a world-renowned TV manufacturer, held an online conference to announce five new BRAVIA XR TV products in 2022, with a rather luxurious lineup, which will lead the next innovative experience of the most cutting-edge trend technology in the entire TV industry.

This year's Sony new TV series is equipped with XR cognitive chips as standard, as the exclusive "black technology" only available in high-end products last year, the decentralization of the whole series can undoubtedly bring more consumers a very good picture quality performance. Among them, the highest positioning Z9K and X95K are equipped with Mini-LED screen panel, XR Dynamic Backlight System Master Edition, XR Tri charm MAX technology, the former supports up to 8K resolution, the latter is the mainstream 4K resolution.

The lower-level A95K and A80K performed equally well. Compared with the traditional OLED screens in the past, these two new products are the first QD-OLED screen panels supplied by Samsung in the world. The last LCD TV, X90K, has upgraded XR cognitive chips, full array backlights, XR Trigram Pro, XR Contrast Enhancement Pro and other technologies.

What is the QD-OLED Screen Panel?

As the world's top screen panel supplier, Samsung Display is accelerating the development and application of the next generation of new products in the face of the rapid progress of local manufacturers in China, among which the QD-OLED screen panel, which cleverly integrates the advantages of quantum dot LEDs and OLED, will become the most mainstream high-end new technology in the next few years.

The QD-OLED panel is still essentially still one of the OLED screens, but its biggest difference is the addition of a quantum dot light-emitting layer film on the basis of the OLED self-luminescent material. In this way, in the three primary colors of RGB red, green and blue, the blue pixels are still OLED self-luminescence native, while the red and green pixels are excited by blue pixels through quantum dots, thus achieving full-color display.

Since the QD-OLED panel only needs a blue OLED light source, and effectively improves the quantum efficiency of red and green quantum dots, nearly 100%, on the basis of retaining the self-luminescence characteristics of OLED pixels, the material cost is lower, the screen is more energy-saving, and the risk of OLED burning screen is greatly reduced.

More importantly, the QD-OLED panel solves the defect of low brightness of traditional OLED screens. Samsung said that QD-OLED has purer colors, wider color gamut, excellent viewing angle, ultra-high contrast, HDR high dynamic range display due to 1000nit peak brightness, and shorter response time.

Industry insiders pointed out that the production of 1 meter QD-OLED panel only costs about 26 US dollars in material costs, while in the past, the production of OLED panels of the same size required close to 95 US dollars, which shows that the cost of achieving better display results is greatly reduced. Therefore, in 2022 and beyond, there will be a large number of QD-OLED TVs on the market.

Samsung, which has the advantages of advanced technology of quantum dot TV, has almost no one in the current market to compete with it. There is no doubt that QD-OLED panel technology will continue to defend its continuous leading position in the global display industry while promoting the decline in OLED TV prices, the full popularization of scale, and solving the problems of insufficient budget of many users.
