1. The Shaanxi people expelled Lu Jianzhang
Lu Jianzhang was a graduate of the Tianjin Beiyang Martial Arts Academy, and began to train yuan shikai to build a new army in 1895, and after more than 10 years of struggling among the beiyang warlords, in 1912 he became the commander of Yuan Shikai's guard army and concurrently served as the director of the Beijing Military and Political Law Enforcement Department.
It can be seen from yuan shikai's unified position in the guard army that Yuan Shikai still has great trust in Lu Jianzhang. Moreover, in order to win Yuan Shikai's trust, Lu Jianzhang wantonly slaughtered revolutionaries, progressives, and even the broad masses of the people during his tenure as director of the Military and Political Law Enforcement Department in Beijing to show his loyalty to Yuan Shikai.
In the spring of 1914, Lu Jianzhang's unit was organized into the Seventh Division of the Army, and because of Lu Jianzhang's "outstanding" performance, Yuan Shikai appointed Lu Jianzhang as the commander of the Seventh Division of the Army and concurrently served as the inspector of the "suppression of bandits" on the West Road. Yuan Shikai's appointment is very purposeful, as we all know, Yuan Shikai and his people, the best at is "knowing people and good responsibility".

At that time, Bai Lang, the leader of the Henan rebel army, led the Henan rebel army deep into Shaanxi, posing a great threat to Yuan Shikai's rule, and Lu Jianzhang was best at using force, and this was the time for Lu Jianzhang to play his role. So in the summer of 1914, Lu Jianzhang led the Seventh Division from Tongguan Haohao Tang into Shaanxi to suppress Bai Lang's rebel army.
When the rebel army encountered the "regular army", it was like an egg touching a stone, and in 1915, Bai Lang's rebel army was suppressed, and the land in Shaanxi was conveniently arranged by Yuan Shikai and officially became a territory directly controlled by the Beiyang warlords under the careful arrangement of Yuan Shikai.
Lu Jianzhang was appointed as a mighty general, and the military affairs of Shaanxi were entrusted to him with full responsibility. If Lu Jianzhang single-mindedly considers the Shaanxi people and brings improvement to the lives of the Shaanxi people, I think that if the Beiyang warlords rule Shaanxi, the Shaanxi people will not have any complaints. However, Lu Jianzhang never thought of doing so.
What Lu Jianzhang wanted to do was based on the premise of personal interests, he used Shaanxi people as his own cash machine, unlimited oppression and humiliation of Shaanxi people, and finally in the intolerable patience of Shaanxi people, broke out again and again "anti-Yuan driving land" movement.

In particular, in order to consolidate his rule in Shaanxi, Lu Jianzhang vigorously carried out secret agent terrorist activities and sent people to closely monitor the people, which made the whole of Shaanxi panic and the people were not happy. What's more, in order to exclude dissidents, he did not hesitate to dispatch several battalions of soldiers and horses, and everywhere he went, he did no evil and did nothing wrong, and he was deeply disgusted by the Shaanxi people.
Lu Jianzhang brazenly opened brothels in Xi'an, and opened tobacco shops in Xi'an, increasing the taxes of the Shaanxi people, acting arbitrarily, and squeezing the Shaanxi people breathlessly. These are just his persecutions of the local people at the local level, and he has done things that are detrimental to culture.
In order to amass wealth, Lu Jianzhang sold precious cultural relics such as "Salu Zi" and "Fist Hair" in the "Zhaoling Liujun" to American cultural robbers at a cheap price of 240,000 silver dollars, which caused a painful blow to the inheritance and development of Chinese culture.

Second, pander to Yuan Shikai's restoration
On December 12, 1915, Yuan Shikai announced that he had accepted the throne, and he intended to overthrow the republic in one fell swoop and re-establish a "new" imperial state, known in history as the "Hongxian Imperial System". What is the nature of this? It is a struggle in which the big landlords and the big bourgeoisie, with the support of imperialism, force the bourgeois revolutionaries to cede power.
At that time, reform was an important choice faced by the Chinese people, and the bourgeoisie played an important role in conforming to the trend of the times and showing its fists and feet on the stage of history. Therefore, Yuan Shikai's move is obviously against the trend, cannot be done, and is bound to fail.
There are many people who want to cater to Yuan Shikai, such as Liang Shiyi, Yan Fu, and Liu Shipei; cai yi and Tang Jiyao; and Lu Jianzhang. However, Cai Yi and Tang Jiyao were only superficially supportive, and they declared an uprising in Yunnan on December 25 against Yuan Shikai.
But Lu Jianzhang, who was bent on thinking about himself, really wanted to support Yuan Shikai, because he could only see what was beneficial to him in his eyes. In order to cater to Yuan Shikai's restoration, in the autumn of 1915 he actively sought out talented literati in Xi'an to write a letter of persuasion, and forced people from various counties and provinces to pretend to be county and provincial representatives to sign.

Lu Jianzhang's spring seemed to be coming, and in December Yuan Shikai was proclaimed emperor, and Lu Jianzhang was crowned as a first-class earl for his meritorious persuasion. However, he couldn't imagine that Yuan Shikai's power in the heavens also fell at the moment. Lu Jianzhang suddenly lost his patron. In May 1916, when Lu Jianzhang left his home in Shaanxi, there were more than 500 large cars in the front row, filled with lu Jianzhang's people's paste for scavenging the Shaanxi people. Some of the angry people in the provincial city took advantage of the chaos to push Lu Jianzhang's wife and daughter into the ditch next to the street.
Third, the tiger and the dog fight each other, and Jianzhang is killed
After Yuan Shikai's death, the power struggle surged within the Beiyang warlords. In 1917, Feng Guozhang acted as president, and Lu Jianzhang became a member of the warlords directly under his line.
Lu Jianzhang, as the representative of the "Lord and Faction", opposed Duan Qirui's use of troops against the south. This completely touched the interests of Duan Qirui of the Anhui Dynasty, so Xu Shuzheng, known as the "soul of Duan Qirui", killed Lu Jianzhang in Tianjin on June 14, 1918.
It can be seen from this that Xu Shuzheng killed Lu Jianzhang with a certain selfish intention, but whether Lu Jianzhang and his people died or not is not up to the author alone.
