Youku's short film "Youwei": Six new young people share stories of struggle

In the past 2021, many outstanding young people have emerged in various industries of the construction of the motherland, who not only continue the spirit of the predecessors who are not afraid of hardships and struggle to overcome difficulties, but also show the happy and confident youth posture of the young generation. Produced by China Youth Daily and Youku, and jointly produced by the Propaganda Department of the Dongcheng District Committee of the Communist Party of China and our Space Innovation Practice Center, the new youth cross-time Q&A short film "Youwei" was officially released on January 4.

The film invites Cao Lei, played by Lu Xun in "The Age of Awakening", as well as Gao Jian, the general dispatcher of the Beijing Space Flight Control Center manned spacecraft mission, Xu Danyang, the main archeological force of the post-95 Sanxingdui, Bai Rui, a female scientist with great potential, Zou Bin, the first winner of the Masonry Project of the WorldSkills Competition, Shang Zhongyuan, a young three-string player, and Su Yinan, a young director of the 2020 and 2021 Henan Spring Festival Gala, six young role models from different fields, in the form of "retaking the road of awakening and talking to new youth". A Q&A and interaction spanning a century of time and space was conducted.

"It's always been like this, right?" "Huge buildings are always stacked from one wood and one stone, so why should we do this wood and stone?" In the face of Mr. Lu Xun's thought-provoking classic texts, six young role models from different industries answered with their own struggle experiences.

Gao Jian, who served as the general dispatcher of Shenzhou XII beijing and has participated in the first flight of Chang'e 4 and Changwu B for many times, believes that spaceflight itself is a burning and romantic cause, and can frequently bring a sense of achievement to himself in the process of performing tasks, and I hope that everyone can remember that behind the "Beijing understanding" is the teamwork spirit of astronauts with a gun. Xu Danyang, who is well known to netizens because of the excavation of the Sanxingdui site, is the "pit chief" of the "sacrifice pit" of sanxingdui number four. In the short film, the post-95 generation said that "archaeology is like opening a blind box full of surprises", and young archaeologists in their work are not ambiguous, patient and cannot be mistaken.

From the Red Chamber of Peking University to the former site of the editorial office of "New Youth", from the present Yuxuan to the Lu Xun Museum in Beijing, six young role models recited the texts left by their ancestors in the last century. In the melody of the international anthem, the two time and space are connected like historical ghosts. At the end of the film, actor Cao Lei's handwriting of "New Youth When There is a Future" jumped out of the screen, and the excitement and strength gushed out.

As a mainstream Internet audio-visual platform, Youku always focuses on the high-quality content output of youth culture and spirit, and plays its due sense of mission and responsibility around the principle of "small people, real heroes, big feelings, and positive energy". In 2021, youku participated in the production and broadcast of the TV series "The Age of Awakening", which triggered a heated discussion among the whole people, so that the "new youth" of China a hundred years ago was seen, understood and revered, especially in the contemporary young generation, which had a strong spiritual resonance.
