What I want to talk about today is that during the war of resistance against Japan, among the tens of millions of young people, one of the Red Army soldiers who chose to serve the country from the army stepped on sweat, tears, and blood, and the old revolutionary Red Army who is still alive today was killed, and the centenarian soldier who walked through the Long March.
In a small farm yard in Xinglin Village, Duanshi Town, Qinshui County, an old man named Feng Zigen can always be heard sitting on a wooden chair, using the authentic Sichuan rural tone, recalling the Zhengrong years of that year.
Feng Zigen was born in a poor village in Sichuan Province in 1918, and the children in the countryside were not rich and oppressed by the landlords, but they had no ability to resist. At the age of 15, he was helped by the Red Army by chance, and resolutely joined the army and became one of the soldiers of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army.
"This team is very different from the previous soldiers, not only does not take advantage of the people, but also always helps the villagers to work," later recalled his military career, Feng Zigen always said so.
Climbing snowy mountains, crossing the mud, and being wounded in battle many times, but Feng Zigen did not flinch, because he knew that the battlefield needed him, the future of the motherland needed every strong soldier, after the victory of the Red Army's Long March, the national conditions at that time were already very chaotic, Japan wantonly invaded North China, the Chinese Communists had to reach an agreement to unite with the outside world, the all-out War of Resistance broke out, and Feng Zigen became an Eighth Route Army. After experiencing the experience of the Long March, Feng Zigen's combat ability has been greatly improved, more confident, he participated in many battles, and also made several meritorious achievements, by 1942, Feng Zigen was already the commander of the Eighth Road Army Battalion.
But what makes Feng Zigen most proud is still praised by Mr. Zhu. On the battlefield, the weapons were merciless, death and fresh life passed by, Feng Zigen was unfortunately seriously injured, received the order to return to northern Shaanxi to recuperate, rested for a long time, Feng Zigen received the order, became the guard next to Commander Zhu, and later because of his excellent performance, became the effective guard squad leader of Zhu Laozong, which made Feng Zigen particularly pleased.
After that, Feng Zigen also had the right to study, for which he cherished studying at the Military and Political University, and also made up for the opportunity lost in his youth due to poverty, and he was also very grateful to the state for cultivating him. After returning from his studies, Feng Zigen continued to set foot on the battlefield with his own knowledge. In 1942, during a battle together, his left palm was pierced by a bullet, and so far the hand bone has been deformed, unable to stretch, leaving a permanent root of illness, rainy days pain, old age, he can no longer open the palm of his left hand like a normal person.
But the war was not over, he could not stop fighting, in 1944, in a battle against the enemy's stronghold, Feng Zigen was unfortunately hit by the enemy, fortunately healed in time, and finally saved his life, but thus fell into a lifelong disability, and also bid farewell to the battlefield. After retiring from the army, Feng Zigen settled in Xinglin Village, Duanshi Town, Qinshui County, a healing place.
One eye can't see things clearly, can't see strong light, will be stimulated, will cry, and needs to wear a hat all year round. On the upper part of the right femur and the right calf, there is still shrapnel residue that cannot be removed... However, the old man smiled at everyone, he would never be sad for this body, the old Red Army's eyes flashed, excitement overflowed into words, mentioning the combat career of that year, the old man seemed very excited.
After all, he was old, and his memories of the past were mostly fragmentary. Fortunately, in the late 1990s, the book "Qinshui Revolutionary Old Area" compiled by the Qinshui County Old District Construction Promotion Association and other units was collected according to Feng Zigen's recollections. It was his youth, and although this injury was boiling, it was his best dedication to the country, and he felt that it was worth it, and he did not regret it at all.
Today, Feng Zigen is comfortable and happy, his son and daughter-in-law take care of him together, and the state subsidizes living expenses every year, without worrying about chai rice oil and salt. The elderly Feng Zigen lived in such a low-key way, and at the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the victory of the anti-fascist war in 2005, the old man was cordially greeted by the party and state leaders. The great deeds of the old man, like the golden and heavy "Victory Medal of Resistance" in his hand, are the most precious, and the happiness that has been exchanged for blood and life has been exchanged.
