Some of the works are selected for a sneak peek
Photographer Lu Jie has photographed Shanghai for nearly 40 years, and his photographs lead the audience to re-examine the city's changes from an overlooked perspective.
Documentary photographer Xu Ming brought "1939 Shanghai Bird's Eye View Illustration Map Animation", which is based on the second creation of "Shanghai Bird's Eye View Illustration Map". Created in 1939 by Japanese illustrator Nishiko Toneomitsu, this map is the most exquisite of all the old shanghai illustrated maps in existence. The animation works of the second creation add dynamic interpretation to the static picture, reproducing the scene of thousands of sails racing on the Huangpu River, the roar of trains on the Shanghai-Nanjing Railway, the billowing white smoke from the factories, and the soaring of biplanes in the air, presenting a modern version of the map of the Thousand Mile River.
Artist Ma Liang's work "Flowers on the Other Side - Dedicated to the Anon. in Old Photographs". These old Shanghai photos, printed from a few old films from about 80 years ago, they are a family living in Shanghai, the identity of the characters can not be verified, but those eyes and smiles, intimate gestures, fully interpret a rich family warm and happy life picture scroll 80 years ago.
Shen Zhonghai, an architectural media personality, has continued to document the "growth" of Rock Bund Source for 12 years, and the exhibition features nearly 150 portraits of workers.
Artist Zhou Yulong brings his work "Xiao Jin", which is based on a 1947 Shanghai silent film shot by a foreign documentary filmmaker. The artist paints part of the painting in gold, and the picture suddenly comes to life— it is the ordinary and vivid day of the people in the shot.
In addition, there are video works from artists such as Tao Hui, Tu Weizheng, BTR, situ Jiayi and so on.
Not only is the exhibition itself quite interesting
