All the way west – 7

Seven stanzas

The two men said goodbye to each other at the exit gate, when it was just dark. Andy looked at the woman's back and remembered her former lover in a trance. He tried to ask her to leave her contact information, but by then her figure had blended into the crowd.

As he feared, he continued his lonely night tour. The further south you go, the hotter and humid the climate becomes, and you can occasionally smell the salty smell of the river in the air. Andy strolled along the river, and the lights on both sides of the river made the river ripple. Three or two people fished at night by the river.

Andy walked along the riverbank, thinking in his heart what he was going to do next. "Maybe I should find a place to rest, I haven't really slept well since I left home."

Suddenly, a 'thudding' brought his gaze to the river, and he vaguely saw a figure falling into the water. But she didn't struggle, and her whole body was slowly sinking.

"No, someone fell into the water." As he ran toward the river, he threw his backpack out, then looked over the fence and stepped on a hard rock. He jumped into the river without caring about the pain, but he forgot that he couldn't swim at all.

The river flowed very slowly, and he was making a haphazard comparison, and he himself was approaching the man. But somehow he suddenly began to sink, which made him more frightened, more nervous, and more uncoordinated. When he was only an arm's throw away from the man, perhaps a little further, he would grab the man's clothes. He had no strength. Only to feel the salty water of the river pouring into his mouth, he waved his hand desperately, and then he was submerged by the river in front of him.

In the last moments when his consciousness was still clear, he seemed to experience the feelings before death. The body was already wrapped in the river water, and while he was supporting the floating, he could not stop the sinking. I vaguely saw the lights on both sides of the river shooting through the river into the water, like a divine light, taking itself to a sacred place. The deepest memories of the past appear without having to be recalled. It turns out that before the end of life, there is no imaginary fear of the unknown, but another reliving of memories.

How long time passed, and Andy felt himself being held by a pair of arms from behind. Then his body stopped sinking, and the beam of light grew brighter. Then someone pressed his palm to his chest, and his body, already filled with water, made him want to vomit. Then he felt the warm water flowing from his throat one by one, the taste was very salty, but the body was very relaxed. Finally, he felt his own heartbeat, many blurry shadows appeared in his vision, and there were still people shouting in his ears.

Andy woke up, and there was no big deal, just choking on a few sips of water. He saw the woman being carried on a stretcher, followed by a siren.

"How about her?" Nothing, right? Andy asked.

"Hey, you almost lost your life. She's fine. A man said, his hair was dripping.

"Thank you very much." Andy regained his life and clutched the man's hand in thanks.

"Hey, who can see death without saving?" It's all right, I still have to watch my fish. The man laughed.

Andy thanked him again, then found his bag and stood up with his wet pants. As he walked, he couldn't help but cough, "The river water is really salty." ”

He found a hotel nearby, and when he dragged his dripping body into the hotel, he couldn't help but attract everyone's attention. When he came to his room he washed his clothes first and then lay down in the bathtub. Warm water enveloped his body, and he breathed with his eyes closed revealing only his nose and mouth.

"It feels so good!"
