Vietnam, a veritable white-eyed wolf country.

As strangers we know best, Vietnam has a long history of entanglement with us.
For more than 2,000 years, Vietnam and we have experienced the transformation of internal subordinates, clans, brothers, mortal enemies and then strangers, which can be described as thousands of turns and ups and downs.
In particular, the drastic changes from brothers to sworn enemies still make many Chinese people angry to this day.
Because in the eyes of many people, when we tightened our belts to support Vietnam, for more than 30 years, we not only assisted Vietnam with materials and equipment worth more than 20 billion US dollars, served as Vietnam's rear base and firm backer for a long time, but also directly sent troops to participate in the war, paid a huge sacrifice, and was the decisive force for Vietnam to defeat the French and American invaders and eventually unify.
However, after reunification, Vietnam turned against us almost immediately, and then in 1979, a war between you and me broke out, becoming a common enemy.
It should be said that Vietnam's behavior is really chilling to us. After all, even if a dog has been fed for so long and knows how to wag its tail to please, but Vietnam has chosen to repay the germans in a more hateful way, with the equipment we aided caused us huge casualties, this scene is classic in the excellent film and television drama "Garland Under the Mountain", in the vietnamese army with our assistance of the gun shell shooting us, with our food and clothing to help the rice to make sandbags, this hysterical anger is self-evident.
So we are accustomed to describing Vietnam as an ungrateful white-eyed wolf, and from this we reflect deeply on the correctness of our policy of supporting Vietnam's strong and unified.
However, this does not seem to be a question we should be thinking about, because we have not actually supported Vietnamese reunification, never have.
Our assistance to Vietnam is essentially for the tranquility of our southern Xinjiang, so Vietnam has never been grateful to us. Because we never really supported Vietnamese reunification, Vietnam eventually turned against us. This is not only a direct withdrawal of the forces of all sides of the international community, but also the inevitable result of the development of world history.
As a member of the Chinese cultural circle, Vietnam has long recognized South Vietnam as its ancestor, and adhered to the purpose of maping Xinjiang, and ruled the Yangtze River with the ancestors of South Korea, forcing the ancients of our country to create a brilliant Chinese civilization in the blue waves of the Yangtze River.
And this act of indiscriminately acknowledging our ancestors also shows from the side that Vietnam and we cannot cut the complicated relationship between chaos and chaos. From 111 BC, when Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty destroyed the State of South Vietnam and once again expanded the territory of the Central Plains Dynasty to the Indochina Peninsula, Vietnam began the history of the Central Plains Dynasty.
Although the Indochina Peninsula at that time was a veritable barbarian land, coupled with the fact that it was far from the core of the Central Plains Dynasty, it was a veritable loss-making transaction. However, due to the fact that the northern part of the Indochina Peninsula is located in the necessary place of the Maritime Silk Road, and because the Indochina Peninsula is directly related to the tranquility of Liangguang and even Yungui, although the Central Plains Dynasty has constantly changed dynasties, it has always exercised strong rule over the northern part of the Indochina Peninsula.
But this situation underwent subtle changes during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Due to the thousands of years of indoctrination, the Indochina Peninsula gradually got rid of the barbarian state and had the so-called national consciousness, so when the Central Plains Dynasty was in chaos, the Indochina Peninsula took the opportunity to get rid of the southern Han rule at that time in 937 and began the history of self-reliance.
After the establishment of the Song Dynasty, due to the national policy of "emphasizing literature over force", foreign wars were repeatedly defeated, and it was even more powerless in the face of the surrounding powers, so the Central Plains Dynasty not only failed to re-pocket Vietnam, but was killed many times, and Vietnam even went deep into Liangguang to burn and loot, which disgraced the Great Song Dynasty.
After the establishment of the Mongol Yuan Empire, vietnam was conquered three times, but the mountainous terrain and the hot climate of the tropical monsoon blocked the footsteps of the Mongol iron horse, so Vietnam was able to survive and continue to be a vassal state of the Central Plains Dynasty.
During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, the Ming army made a major conquest of Vietnam and re-incorporated Vietnam into its territory. However, more than 400 years later, Vietnam has long been a thing of human beings, so after only 20 years of persistence, the Ming Dynasty had to withdraw from the Indochina Peninsula, and Vietnam once again returned to the starting point of the vassal state.
After the qing dynasty flourished and declined, western powers flocked to vietnam, French colonists began to invade the Indochina Peninsula in 1858, and finally gained colonial rights in Vietnam after the Sino-French War of 1885, and the Qing Dynasty completely lost its suzerainty status in Vietnam.
For more than 800 years, vietnam has carefully coped with the conquests of the Central Plains Dynasty and paid tribute to the Central Plains Dynasty. On the other hand, it continues to expand southward along the coastline, bringing the Mekong Delta under its control. Not only that, But Vietnam also infiltrated its power into Laos and Cambodia through forced robbery, and built a "Small China in the South" centered on Vietnam until it was packed up and taken away by the French colonists.
During the more than 60 years that the French colonists ruled Vietnam, they not only established Indochina, which included Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, but also brought Catholicism to Vietnam, subtly changing the religious structure of Vietnam dominated by Buddhism, making Vietnam gradually become a four-part of the world.
As the British colonists gave the soul of modern India, vietnam has a long history of civilization, especially its long-term subordination to the Chinese cultural circle. However, due to the decline of Chinese civilization in modern times, coupled with the profound transformation of Vietnam by the French colonists, the Vietnamese people have more and more shadows of the Western colonists. Coupled with the "glorious history" of the French colonists who established Indochina, it helped Vietnam achieve its expansion goals of more than 800 years, so Vietnam naturally felt very kind to the French colonists. After Vietnam's reunification, it will also restore the territory of Indochina and dominate the Indochina Peninsula as Vietnam's goal.
After the outbreak of World War II in 1939, Nazi Germany swept through France in 1940, although it failed to occupy Paris before France surrendered, but the fall of France was an established fact, so Japanese imperialism, as an ally of Nazi Germany, did not wait and quickly "took over" French colonies in Asia, including Vietnam.
The japanese invaders' trespasses trampled on the bottom line of the United States, so the United States began to impose an oil embargo and other blockades on Japan, forcing Japan to take desperate risks while also supporting the occupied areas to resist Japanese rule, including the guerrilla forces led by Ho Chi Minh.
Because Ho Chi Minh was eager for President Wilson's national self-determination program during his study in France, Ho Chi Minh had long been close to the United States and his relationship with Stalin was relatively unfamiliar.
Therefore, when Japanese imperialism was at the end of its rope and Ho Chi Minh seized the opportunity to launch the "August Revolution" to successfully establish the country, Ho Chi Minh expressed his undisguised pursuit of the United States, and even took the so-called American spirit of "rather death without freedom" as his founding declaration.
But the performance of the United States disappointed Ho Chi Minh. According to the Arrangement of the Allies after the war, China and Britain accepted the surrender of the Japanese at the 16th parallel north, so the first problem Ho Chi Minh faced was how to drive out the nationalist army in Nanjing.
At this time, after the successful restoration of France, it also returned to Vietnam non-stop, because of like-minded, so it was in line with Ho Chi Minh, and Ho Chi Minh also left the famous saying that I would rather smell French farts than eat Chinese.
But the French army, as always, did not fight, and because the French colonists aimed to become the master of Vietnam again, Ho Chi Minh set his eyes on the United States. And the United States, for its global interests, of course, chose to support France, after all, at that time the United States wanted to control Western Europe, if France obstructed from it, the United States would inevitably gain more than it lost.
So Ho Chi Minh could only turn his attention to the Soviet Union in the end, after all, everyone was a socialist system and a brother in the same camp.
But Stalin repeatedly said I don't have you, the brother of a nationalist. However, out of the need to resist the capitalist camp, the Soviet Union did not want Vietnam to become the bridgehead of the capitalist camp in the Indochina Peninsula, so Stalin entrusted the historic task of aiding North Vietnam to New China, and from then on, China and Vietnam began to love each other.
Since Ho Chi Minh was still fighting guerrillas in the ravines at that time, he was quite excited to learn that New China had taken the lead in recognizing the North Vietnamese regime.
In order to support the North Vietnamese in defeating the French invaders, as the rear of the North Vietnamese, we not only gave money to guns, but also sent a military advisory group led by General Chen Geng to directly command the operation, laying a solid foundation for the complete defeat of the French invaders.
At that time, the United States was beaten by the volunteer army on the Korean Peninsula, so it vigorously supported the French to survive in the Indochina Peninsula, but the French army was still as weak as ever.
In 1954, New China participated in the Geneva Conference as a five-nation power, and under the active campaign and good offices of Premier Zhou, China, the Soviet Union, Britain, France, the United States, South Vietnam, North Vietnam, the Kingdom of Laos and the Kingdom of Cambodia signed the Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities of Viet Nam, the Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities in Laos and the Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities in Cambodia on July 21, 1954, and the Final Declaration of the Geneva Conference was finally issued at the meeting.
The signing of the Geneva Accords marked the end of French colonial rule in Indochina and the liberation of Indochina and was a great victory for the Indochina people in the war against France.
But such a joy did not belong to Ho Chi Minh, whose desired reunification of the North and the South did not materialize, although the agreement stipulated that north and south Vietnam would hold national unification elections in 1956 as a means of vietnamese reunification. But the North and South Vietnamese have long been under the influence of the great powers. Coupled with the refusal of the United States to sign the Geneva Accords and actively succeeding France as a backer for South Vietnam, Vietnam did not achieve true peace. Subsequently, with the landing of American troops in South Vietnam in 1961, the War between North and South Vietnam began again.
It should be said that Vietnam is not satisfied with the Geneva Agreement, and this dissatisfaction can easily be angered by the role of "presiding" this action, so we are naturally hated by the house and the U.
However, because of the outbreak of the Second Vietnam War, Vietnam had to "bend and stretch" again in the face of survival, and in order to prevent the United States from using Vietnam as a springboard to covet southern Xinjiang, we put the front line outside the border like the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and began a vigorous War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Vietnam.
Compared with the War to Resist France and Aid Vietnam, we spared no effort to help Vietnam in the War of Resistance Against US Aggression. Chairman Mao's previous statement in the face of Western reporters that the US military will not ignore the 17th parallel of the north latitude has made the United States even more worried, after all, this familiar statement occurred long before the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. Therefore, the US ground forces have never dared to cross the 17th parallel, which has led to the fact that even if the US Air Force threw more than 4 times the amount of bombs dropped by World War II combined into North Vietnam, it was still unable to completely eliminate North Vietnam, and even difficult to block the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
At that time, the Soviet Union gradually changed its indifferent attitude towards North Vietnam as early as after Stalin's death, especially during the Khrushchev period, in order to contain New China after the Sino-Soviet confrontation, it actively supported North Vietnam.
Interestingly, although Sino-Soviet relations had deteriorated across the board at that time. But Soviet aid to Vietnam was still able to move south rapidly through our rail network.
Because of the Soviet Union's wealth, aid soon came to the fore. Coupled with the Soviet Union's support for Vietnamese reunification, after Ho Chi Minh's death in 1969, the successor Lê Thanh government soon abandoned the policy of left and right between China and the Soviet Union and began to fall to the Soviet Union in an all-round way.
In order to withdraw from the Vietnam War and to unite with us against the Soviet Union, the United States began to seek to normalize relations with us, and finally achieved a historic handshake in 1972.
The normalization of Sino-US relations has greatly stimulated Vietnam, which is regarded as a serious betrayal, so Sino-Vietnamese relations have taken a sharp turn for the worse.
In February 1974, China and the South Vietnamese Navy broke out in the Xisha Naval Battle that shocked the world, and successfully recovered the Paracel Sea. Subsequently, the North Vietnamese government issued a declaration thanking china for helping it recover the Paracels, adding another shadow to Sino-Vietnamese relations.
For us, as long as the United States does not have the ambition to invade us with Vietnam, it has achieved its strategic goals, and there will be no such concerns after the United States takes the initiative to withdraw its troops. So if the United States is willing to stick to South Vietnam like South Korea, although the South China Sea issue will be more complicated, we are relatively willing to accept such a situation.
However, the mud of South Vietnam could not support the wall, coupled with the fact that the United States, which was seriously injured, was eager to get out and completely abandoned the South Vietnamese regime, so North Vietnam drove straight in with the support of the Soviet Union and completely unified Vietnam after the withdrawal of the United States.
Then, in order to "digest" South Vietnam as soon as possible, Vietnam carried out cruel expulsion and persecution of overseas Chinese in the south, which further intensified sino-Vietnamese contradictions.
Coupled with Vietnam's eagerness to reunify Indochina with the support of the Soviet Union, which accelerated its provocations on the Sino-Vietnamese border, and because the Soviet Union and Vietnam signed the "Soviet-Vietnamese Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation" on November 3, 1978, and formally formed a military alliance, Vietnam was even more invincible, and China and Vietnam met each other on February 17, 1979.
In order to completely eliminate Vietnam's arrogance, after a month of large-scale ground war, our army has carried out border round wars for more than 10 years, completely ruining Vietnam's dream of the Indochina Federation, making Vietnam's prestige and status disappear for more than 30 years, and indirectly leading to the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991.
Therefore, in order to safeguard national sovereignty and peripheral security, New China's choice on the Vietnam issue can be described as wise and wise, and its purpose is not to give favor to Vietnam, let alone help Vietnam to unify the north and south. However, due to the role of the external environment, especially the huge influence of the Soviet Union, it inevitably led to the hostility between China and Vietnam.
The fundamental reason for this embarrassing situation is that our strength is not strong enough. Therefore, only by self-improvement can we truly protect ourselves.
