The Long March was undoubtedly difficult, so the vast majority of the Red Army participating in the Long March were male soldiers, with only 30 female soldiers. After the Long March, 29 survived, and the only female soldier who sacrificed was Wu Fulian.

Wu Fulian was sold by her parents to a rich family as a child bridesmaid, and was bullied to the end, and when the Red Army passed by her hometown, she chose to join the army.

At the age of 22 when she joined the Long March, she served as an officer in the political office of the Red Army Field Hospital, and in June 1935, she was transferred to the political commissar of the Women's Pioneer Regiment of the Red Fourth Front. Wu Fulian was an excellent Red Army soldier, brave in battle, not losing to male soldiers.

When the Red Army began the Long March, Wu Fulian served as an officer of the Political Department of the Red Army Field Hospital, and once the enemy attacked the General Hospital of the Red Army, and after a fierce battle, 6 soldiers were wounded and hidden in a cave, forgotten by the large troops.

When Wu Fulian found out, she immediately picked up a rifle and a grenade, and despite the danger, went to rescue the wounded. He led the men to find 6 wounded and quickly transferred, at which point the enemy caught up.

She used the fire of the grenades to contain the enemy, so that the stretcher team could successfully carry away the wounded, and finally Wu Fulian was forced to a cliff by the enemy, the bullets and grenades were exhausted, and she jumped off the cliff.

Fortunately, there was a big tree under the cliff, and she landed on the big tree, only some skin trauma, and quickly found the big troops after recovering from her body. The superior leaders heard wu Fulian's story and came to visit her specifically, praising her and being an example for the warriors.

In 1936, after the three main forces of the Red Army met the division, Wu Fulian joined the Western Route Army. The Western Route Army encountered the Ma family army in the Hexi Corridor, fought bloodily for several months, and finally was outnumbered and surrounded by the Ma family army.

In March 1937, Wu Fulian led the Women's Vanguard Regiment to fight with the Ma Family Army for 3 days, successfully covering the main force to break through, but the Women's Pioneer Regiment suffered heavy casualties, most of them were sacrificed, and Wu Fulian was also captured.

Under the severe torture of Ma Jiajun, someone in the women's vanguard group defected and confessed Wu Fulian's identity. Ma Jiajun then tortured her in every way, but Wu Fulian was unyielding and regarded death as a homecoming.

Before being captured, she prepared a steel needle, and in order to prevent being insulted by the enemy, Wu Fulian swallowed the needle and committed suicide at the age of 25. She was a legendary female soldier, and the 29 female soldiers who participated in the Long March with her felt sorry for her.

If Wu Fulian had not sacrificed and lived to the founding of the People's Republic of China, she would have been eligible to participate in the 1955 conferment ceremony, and may have been a founding female general, but unfortunately history cannot be repeated.
