"Eastern Battlefield" is an anti-war epic drama produced by Meng Fanyao, written by Liu Xing, directed by Lu Qi, and starring Huang Haibing, Luo Jialiang, Ma Xiaowei, Yuan Yongyi, Yu Feihong, Hou Xiangling, Zhou Hang, Ying Cai'er, Ye Xuan, Zhang Luyi, etc.

Weak League of Nations
Before the United Nations, there was an organization called the League of Nations. This organization is the object of satire in Lu Xun's articles, and is a vague existence in the Chinese intellectual genealogy. "Eastern Battlefield" shows this weak international organization.
In the "September 18 Incident", the Japanese Kwantung Army first invaded Shenyang, then bombed Jinzhou, and stepped on the entire northeast territory. At that time, the Nationalist government responded that Zhang Xueliang (Zhou Hang) ordered no resistance, and Chiang Kai-shek asked the League of Nations to mediate. "Eastern Battlefield" positively shows the meeting of the League of Nations, the round table led by the Western countries, at first it was a prevarication of the League of Nations, allowing China and Japan to solve it by themselves, and then it was really impossible to say, the League of Nations made a resolution to make demands on the Japanese, but the Japanese representative did not take the League of Nations in his eyes at all, and whisked his sleeves away.
At its peak, the League of Nations had 58 member states and its purpose was to reduce the number of weapons, calm international disputes, raise the standard of living of the population and promote international cooperation and international trade. It doesn't sound very different from the later United Nations.
However, the League of Nations did not have an army configuration, relied on the assistance of major powers, and lacked the coercive power to implement the resolution, so it was difficult to play its due role. The Japanese hawkish soldiers have long seen the weakness of the League of Nations, and have repeatedly expanded the situation in China, preferring Chiang Kai-shek's desperate search for a plan, always hoping for the mediating role of the League of Nations. Weak countries have no diplomacy. There has never been a savior. Strike iron first to harden yourself. These words could not have been more aptly applied to Sino-Japanese relations in the 1930s. Chiang Kai-shek may not be unaware of the paper tiger nature of the League of Nations, but he wants to go all out to "suppress the Communists," to carry out the strategy of slowing down the army, to turn to the League of Nations as a dead horse as a living horse doctor, and to have a prevarication in the face of fierce public opinion.
After the outbreak of World War II, the League of Nations was useless, and it was eventually replaced by the United Nations after the end of World War II. Although the United Nations is not helpless against some blatant invasions, it is really equipped with peacekeeping forces and has hardened its waist in the mediation of certain international disputes.
"Thieves shout to catch thieves" tactics
In 1931, the Japanese Kwantung Army blew up a section of the railway track in Wicker Lake on the northern outskirts of Shenyang on the South Manchuria Railway as scheduled, and falsely accused it of being committed by the Chinese army, and then the Kwantung Army shelled the North Camp, and the "September 18 Incident" broke out. In "Eastern Battlefield", it is clearly described that Kawashima Yoshiko (Played by Ye Xuan) earned Puyi (Played by Zhang Luyi) into the urn, that is, he sent Japanese agents to shoot near Puyi's mansion, falsely accusing the Kuomintang of sending someone to assassinate Puyi, tricking him into fleeing to the northeast in a hurry.
Not long after that, it was this Yoshiko Kawashima who manipulated the hooligans to seriously injure two Japanese monks on the streets of Shanghai (rumored that one person was not cured), falsely accused of Chinese, and provided excuses for the Japanese Marine Corps to send troops, triggering the "1.28 War of Resistance". Wang Jingwei and Chen Bijun
Wang Jingwei's revolutionary credentials were older than Chiang Kai-shek's, and he assassinated the regent Zaifeng in that year. Wang Jingwei has long been below one person and above ten thousand people, and has been suppressed by Chiang Kai-shek. After the defeat of the Nationalist army and the repeated defeat of the Nationalist government, the repeated westward movement of the Nationalist government, and the failure to persuade Chiang Kai-shek to "save the country peacefully," he embarked on the road of no return of surrender and betrayal.
There are many characters in "Eastern Battlefield", but it still roughly clarifies the treasonous journey of Wang Jingwei (Luo Jialiang). The pessimism and disappointment in the prospects of the war of resistance and the infinite lust for the "thousand autumn deeds" are naturally the main reasons.
However, Wang Jingwei's wife, Chen Bijun (Jiang Hongbo), obviously played an important role in promoting. Whenever Wang Jingwei was intimidated by the public consultation and was shaken, she said contemptuously on the side: "If you hesitate, what can be a big deal?" After listening to this unchanging line a lot, Wang Jingwei finally made up his mind to go out of the mountains to organize the Nanjing government and act as a japanese running dog.
Of course, whether it is Puyi or Wang Jingwei, the process of being a puppet is complicated and painful. Puyi is a mortal who is remembered by thieves, can't run and can't fight, plus a little bit of restoration ambition, not from the same. Wang Jingwei's fig leaf was that the Japanese "had no territorial claims", and he convinced himself that his trip was "bearing the burden of humiliation to save the country".
Chen Bijun is a woman and a man, and acts decisively. On the eve of Wang Jingwei's assassination of the regent, he made a grand appearance with his body. After forming a couple, he has always been the spiritual pillar of Wang Jingwei, and whenever it is difficult to decide things, it must be Chen Bijun who takes the idea. In the general impression, the War of Resistance was the collapse of the frontal battlefield of the Nationalist army and the small victory of the communist army in the battlefield behind the enemy' back into a big victory. The resisters were both army and guerrilla, and air bombardment and naval shelling were patented by the Japanese.
"Eastern Battlefield" is enough to reverse this misconception. The Air Force has the "Four Great Pilots of the Republic of China" led by Gao Zhihang, who dealt a heavy blow to the Japanese Air Force in the early days of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and was personally rewarded by Song Meiling (Yu Feihong). However, the Republic of China Air Force was attacked by a sneak attack when it landed on the ground in Luoyang, and suffered heavy losses, and the rest of the aircraft were also almost exhausted in the air battle with the enemy, and there was no longer air supremacy.
The tragic situation of the Bombing of Chongqing is expressed in the play. From the defenders of the Sihang warehouse, to the big knife team at Xifengkou, from the pilots who would rather run out of aviation fuel than shoot down enemy planes, to the artillerymen who finally sank the Japanese planes on the Jiangxing ship, China did not lack hot-blooded men and severed generals. Even if the United States and the Soviet Union did not enter the war, Little Japan would not want to sit still in the occupied Chinese territory!
Zhang Zizhong, Dai Anlan, Gao Zhihang, Sa Shijun..., as well as Yang Jingyu, Zhao Shangzhi, Peng Xuefeng, Zuo Quan... are all well-documented heroes of the War of Resistance.
