Huawei is the first to complete the preliminary verification of 5G-Advanced synaesthesia integration technology

IT Home January 1 news, on December 30, 2021, under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Huawei completed the world's first 5G-Advanced communication perception integration technology verification in huairou field. This test successfully verified the application of synaesthesia in smart transportation and campus intrusion detection, and the detection distance of the synaesthesia base station exceeded 500 meters, the position accuracy reached the lane level, and the detection accuracy of vehicles and pedestrians reached 100%. The verification of synaesthesia integration will provide an important reference for the application of synaesthesia integration and technological innovation.

Synaesthesia integration is one of the important innovation directions of 5G-Advanced, which integrates perception capabilities on communication systems, uses wireless signals to provide real-time environmental perception, opens up application space beyond traditional connections, and then builds a bridge between the real world and the virtual world. At present, synaesthesia integration has made preliminary explorations in industries such as intelligent transportation and unmanned aerial vehicles, and commercial scenarios continue to emerge. Synaesthesia integrated technology verification will lead the industry to carry out technical research and application innovation, promote standard research, and accelerate ecological construction.

IT Home learned that the synaesthesia integrated test uses 3GPP 5G signals in the millimeter wave band to verify its ability to perceive vehicles and people in various business scenarios such as smart transportation and campus intrusion detection. In the case of no more than 15% of the perception resources, the test results show that the detection distance of 5G synaesthesia is more than 500 meters, which doubles the coverage distance of the field measured traffic radar, which helps to greatly reduce the deployment cost; the position accuracy reaches the lane level, which can distinguish the target of different lanes and different speeds in the whole road section; and the vehicle and personnel detection accuracy rate reaches 100%, which meets the application needs of smart transportation and park intrusion. Compared with mainstream traffic radar, 5G-Advanced synaesthesia has performance advantages in key indicators such as detection distance, position accuracy and speed accuracy.

Huawei will continue to actively participate in the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group, and plans to carry out testing and verification of low-altitude security and other scenarios in 2022, bringing synaesthesia integrated technology into more application scenarios such as high-level autonomous driving and smart low-altitude, enabling digital and intelligent social transformation.
