On December 30, 2021, under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group of the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Huawei completed the world's first 5G-Advanced communication perception integration technology verification in the Huairou field. This test successfully verified the application of synaesthesia in smart transportation and park intrusion detection, and the detection distance of the synaesthesia base station exceeded that of mainstream traffic radar by more than double, the position accuracy reached the lane level, and the detection accuracy of vehicles and personnel reached 100%. The verification of synaesthesia integration will provide an important reference for the application of synaesthesia integration and technological innovation.

The IMT-2020 (5G) Propulsion Group completed the world's first test verification of synaesthesia integration technology
Synaesthesia integration is one of the important innovation directions of 5G-Advanced, which integrates perception capabilities on communication systems, uses wireless signals to provide real-time environmental perception, opens up application space beyond traditional connections, and then builds a bridge between the real world and the virtual world. At present, synaesthesia integration has made preliminary explorations in industries such as intelligent transportation and unmanned aerial vehicles, and commercial scenarios continue to emerge. Synaesthesia integrated technology verification will lead the industry to carry out technical research and application innovation, promote standard research, and accelerate ecological construction.
This synaesthesia all-in-one verification uses the millimeter wave band and verifies the vehicle and personnel perception capabilities required in various business scenarios of smart transportation and campus intrusion detection based on 3GPP5G signals. In the case of no more than 15% of the perception resources, the test results show that the detection distance of 5G synaesthesia integration is more than double that of mainstream traffic radar, which helps to greatly reduce the cost of deployment; the position accuracy reaches the lane level, which can distinguish the different speeds of different lanes in the whole road; and the vehicle and personnel detection accuracy rate reaches 100%, meeting the application needs of smart transportation and park intrusion. Compared with mainstream traffic radar, 5G-Advanced synaesthesia has performance advantages in key indicators such as detection distance, position accuracy and speed accuracy.
Huawei will continue to actively participate in the work of the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group, and will carry out testing and verification of low-altitude security and other scenarios in 2022, bringing synaesthesia integrated technology into more application scenarios such as high-level automatic driving and smart low-altitude, enabling digital and intelligent social transformation.
