One, 4 days burned 3 times is all WM EX5
WM Motors had three spontaneous combustion incidents in just four days, including the earlier one in Zhengzhou and the other two in Hainan Province, one in Haikou and one in Sanya.
In the early morning of December 23, under the building of a resident in Haikou City, Hainan Province, a parked car suddenly caught fire, and the fire was large, affecting the rear parking vehicles and the walls of the residential building. The rear car was scrapped, the walls of the residential building were covered with black smoke, and the air conditioner was burned out.

Coincidentally, just the day before the spontaneous combustion, that is, on December 22, a fire occurred in a WM EX5 in Sanya, Hainan Province.

Judging from the pictures circulating on the Internet, the vehicle was on fire at that time, the main fire location was at the rear of the car, and the front of the car was emitting thick white smoke, but unlike the accident in Haikou, the car that caught fire in Sanya can clearly see the logo of Weima Automobile.
It is a coincidence that two spontaneous combustion accidents of the same model occurred in two consecutive days, but two days before the two spontaneous combustion incidents in WM, Hainan, on December 20, a charging station in Zhengzhou City, a WM car that was charging suddenly caught fire.
Afterwards, the owner said in an interview with relevant media that the vehicle that caught fire was a WM EX5, which was only purchased for 7 to 8 months. She also didn't know the cause of the fire, but she was sitting in the car while charging and got out of the car when she heard the noise of the vehicle.
At present, it is not certain that the WM EX5 that spontaneously combusts in Zhengzhou is a 2021 or 2022 model, but by querying the official parameter configuration table, it can be found that both models use ternary lithium batteries.

At the beginning of December, WM Motors said that from January to November this year, WM Motors delivered a total of 39,095 vehicles. At present, the four models on sale, WM W6, EX5, E.5 and EX6 are equipped with ternary lithium batteries.

Compared with lithium iron phosphate batteries, ternary lithium batteries have higher energy density and strong endurance, but their weakness is poor stability, if the internal short circuit or cathode material encounters, there will be obvious production, and the cost is more, and the safety is significantly lower than that of lithium iron phosphate batteries.
The causes of the three fire accidents are under investigation, and as of press time, WM Motors has not officially responded to them.

Previously, Chedong had reported several spontaneous combustion incidents of WM Motors, and the models involved were WM EX5.
On October 5 and October 13 last year, two WM electric vehicles spontaneously combusted in Fujian. The two WM electric vehicles were launched by a private taxi company in Shaowu City, Fujian Province.
The company launched 80 new energy taxis of WM SUV models during the National Day, but after 5 days of use, one of the WM pure electric taxis spontaneously combusted without starting at rest, and the whole vehicle burned down.

In the early morning of October 13, the second WM pure electric taxi caught fire and burned while charging to 96%, and the vehicle burned down.
In response to these two accidents, the director of market service quality of WM Automobile said at the meeting held on October 13 that the cause of the accident was initially determined to be a battery problem, and proposed a plan to immediately replace the power battery of the high-quality Ningde era, and was also willing to compensate the operator for the loss.
Less than half a month after the above two spontaneous combustion incidents occurred last year, Another car fire accident was reported in WM Motors. On the evening of October 27 last year, a WM EX5 caught fire in the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on North Fourth Ring West Road in Beijing's Haidian District, and then exploded. Judging from the pictures at the scene, the door of this WM EX5 was blown open, and white smoke came out of the rear wheels.
