In 1924, Li Yu'an was born into an extremely poor peasant family in Taiqian, Henan, and went to the northeast at the age of 16 to work as a hard worker. In 1946, at the age of 22, he threw himself into the camp of the People's Liberation Army without hesitation. After enlisting in the army, he worked hard and joined the Communist Party the following year.
In the Battle of Siping, he was awarded the first class merit, the Liaoxi Battle was awarded a great merit, the Pingjin Campaign was awarded another battle merit, and the crossing of the river was awarded another first class merit, and he followed the troops all the way to Guangxi, and won a total of 10 battle merits before and after.
In 1950, with the difficulty of achieving national liberation, the United States ignited war on the Korean Peninsula adjacent to the northeast. In the early morning of November 30, 1950, Li Yu'an's unit received an urgent task and launched a fierce attack behind enemy lines, blocking the Ninth Regiment of the US Second Division fleeing south and cutting off the enemy's rear road.
When the volunteer army arrived at Songkuo Peak with the team, the enemy also just arrived here, seeing that the enemy's cars were about to rush through here, in order to block the enemy, Li Yu'an's three companies quickly seized a hill, that is, the songbone peak highland.
The main peak of Songku peak highland is 200 meters, and next to the highland is a road, which has multiple turns due to the terrain, so it is also the best ambush location.
At that time they faced the enemy was the Us army, a unit with dozens of aircraft, artillery, tanks and other heavy modern weapons. On the other hand, they only had rifles, machine guns, grenades, and only one company of troops, which was one-fifth less than the U.S. army.
The opponent of the 3rd Company was the 9th Regiment of the US 2nd Division fleeing south, one company blocking a regiment, and the rifles, machine guns and grenades were destined to be a deadly battle of disparity in strength.
At about 6 o'clock in the morning, the battle began, and in order to escape, the US army used more than 30 aircraft and more than 10 tanks to frantically bomb SongkuoFeng, and the incendiary bombs burned the entire hill red.
The enemy continued to attack, the offensive became more and more fierce, the volunteers were killed and wounded, but none of them said to retreat, the machine guns could not be used because of the continuous firing, the barrels were hot and bent, and the soldiers took the bayonets from the dead comrades and carried out close attacks.
In the end, the battle was extremely fierce, under the crazy bombardment of the enemy, the fortifications that the volunteer army had previously dug were all destroyed, the 3 platoons that held the forward position were completely destroyed, the position was lost, the commander of the 3rd company, Dai Ruyi, was heroically sacrificed, and the deputy company commander Yang Wenhai was seriously wounded, and he fought with the enemy to the last moment. The five warriors, including The Punishment Yutang, were all on fire, rolling with the enemy with flames, refusing to let go. Some warriors jumped off the cliff with the enemy in their arms, some soldiers smashed the enemy's head with grenades, and died with them, and when cleaning the battlefield, people found that the grenades were stained with blood.
The 3rd Company fought fiercely for 8 hours, and when the 5th attack of the US army was repelled, it was already about 2 p.m., more than 600 enemy were killed and wounded, and more than 100 people in the whole company were almost completely lost, and only Li Yu'an and his deputy company commander, the signal officer, and less than five soldiers were still alive on the entire high ground.
After the battle of Songkuofeng, the 38th Division of the Volunteer Army wanted to go to the position of the Third Company to see, and Wei Wei, the writer who was interviewing with this unit at that time, also went with him.

Suddenly, the enemy shot a bullet into Li Yu'an's lungs, and Li Yu'an only felt a burst of pain, and then there was no consciousness.
After 7 hours in a coma, Li Yu'an woke up and found that the surrounding area was full of the bodies of comrades and enemies, the guns were completely broken, and the parts of the machine guns were scattered all over the ground. Only I survived. Devastated, he burst into tears, determined that even if he survived in the end, he would never covet pleasure and live up to the sacrifices of his comrades.
Later, Li Yu'an was very fortunate to be saved by the Koreans who came to clean up the battlefield, and when the Koreans and their comrades in the brotherhood took Li Yu'an to the medical room, it was discovered that he was so badly injured. The bullet shot in from Li Yu'an's armpit, shattering his spine and breaking two more ribs, but fortunately did not hurt the fatal organs.
Doctors operated on Li Yu'an to remove shrapnel and saved his life, but Li Yu'an had been recuperating in North Korea for a long time, and his injuries did not improve for a long time. So Li Yu'an was sent to a domestic hospital for treatment, and went to multiple hospitals before and after, and underwent several surgeries.
On August 11, 1951, Li Yu'an was successfully discharged from the hospital and returned to the team, although he left a large scar on the front of his chest and back, but he believed that this was also a testimony to his honor.
Although he was rescued, he fell seriously injured and did not go to the battlefield again.
Li Yu'an also did not want to drag down the troops and comrades-in-arms because of his body, and he could only helplessly leave the army with tears. Li Yu'an got the "disability certificate" issued to him by the army and returned to his hometown and began the life of an ordinary person. He didn't even return to his original unit report, so the men of the 38th Army always thought he had died.

In July 1952, the organization arranged for Li Yu'an to come to a granary in Heilongjiang to work as a worker. When he first arrived at the grain depot, because Li Yu'an had been seriously injured in the past, the leader arranged for him to go to the grain depot as a guard.
At that time, local workers and non-local workers often had contradictions and repeated persuasions, and the party branch later simply transferred Li Yu'an to rectify.
