BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- After nearly two months of performances, the 8th Contemporary Small Theater Opera Arts Festival will officially come to an end on December 31.

The 8th Contemporary Small Theater Opera Art Festival is co-sponsored by The Beijing Xicheng District Culture and Tourism Bureau, beijing dramatists association, Beijing Tianyi Tongge International Culture and Art Co., Ltd., hosted by The Star Drama Village, and funded by the Beijing Culture and Art Fund (2021), with the theme of "Xiang", which means peace and beauty.

This year's festival brought together dozens of participating theater troupes from the Northern Kunqu Opera Theatre, Bai Ailian Director Studio, Fujian Liyuan Opera Inheritance Center, Shaanxi Great Drama Qin cavity troupe, Yiwu Wu opera protection and inheritance center, Jiangsu Performing Arts Group Kun Theater, Wenzhou Ou opera art research institute, Fanxing Drama Village and other dozens of participating theaters, bringing together 16 wonderful plays in dozens of categories such as Peking Opera, Kunqu Opera, Yue Opera, Liyuan Opera, Qin Cavity, Commentary, Wu Opera, Ou Opera, Opera Element Drama and so on.

During the performance, Shao opera "Zhuang Gong's Troubles", Qin Cavity's "Burning Incense", commentary drama "No Salt Lady", Wu opera "No Name", Ou opera "That Year Mei Kaihe Returned", Peking Opera "Si Fan", Kunqu Opera "Depicting Zhu Ji", Peking Opera "A Smoke and Rain" and other plays met with the audience through multi-platform online exhibition methods such as the WeChat public account of the Contemporary Small Theater Opera Art Festival and the WeChat public account of the Star Drama Village.

In addition to the opera dramas such as Peking Opera, Yue Opera, Kunqu Opera, Pear Garden Opera, and Commentary Opera, which are familiar to the audience, the exhibition and performances of this year's art festival also ushered in Qin Cavity, Shao Opera, Wu Opera, Ou Opera and other dramas. The main creative lineup of the performance is eye-catching, many opera performance artists, a number of plum blossom award winners, etc. have performed on the stage, and more new opera forces have shined.

For example, the Shao opera "The Troubles of Zhuang Gong" breaks the traditional form of Shao opera and interacts with the audience at close range. From the main creator to the actor to the player, 90% are after the 80s, 90s, and even after 00, the whole team is full of youth and vitality.

Qin Cavity's "Burning Incense" adopts the operation mode of "small production, famous actor leading, crew system", starring Qi Aiyun, winner of the "Plum Blossom Award" of Chinese drama, winner of the 30th "Magnolia Protagonist" Award in Shanghai, Qi Aiyun, winner of the "Four Famous Dans" of Chinese Qin Cavity, winner of the "Plum Blossom Award" of Chinese drama, and Zhang Tao, winner of the "Shanghai Magnolia Supporting Role" Award.

According to the organizers, this year's festival provides a professional exchange and performance platform for small theater opera, leading the new trend of small theater opera performance, especially bringing young people to the traditional field and opening up the vision of opera, which has played a positive role.
