At the instigation of Li Zicheng, Gao Ligong released Li Zicheng from prison and hid him in his home.
It turned out that Gao Ligong's home was in the deep mountains, and it was difficult for ordinary people to find it, and Li Zicheng at that time did not expect that he would meet an incomparably important partner in life because of this opportunity. In May 1645, Li Zicheng led 20 soldiers up the mountain to explore the way, only to be killed by the local militia and his body was secretly buried. And Gao Guiying also became the general of this unit, but even if Gao Guiying was strong, at this time there was no way to return to heaven, and she could only choose to set herself on fire and follow Li Zicheng.
Of course, there are different rumors about whether Empress Gao finally burned herself and died, and there are actually different rumors about her descendants, such as Wang Fuzhi and Cha Jizuo who recorded that she surrendered to the Qing Dynasty and finally died in the Qing court.
