At the end of November 1950, the second campaign of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea was in full swing, and the headquarters of the Volunteer Army was busy. But all the people, despite the busyness, would ask the same question every half hour: Where did the 113th Division go? Due to radio silence, the command is now unable to contact the 113th Division, which they do not yet know is setting a world record.

The distance between Tokugawa and Sansho, measured on a mapping software
A quick look at a survey tool on a mapping software shows that the straight-line distance from Tokugawa to Sansho is 76.7159 kilometers. But this is only a straight-line distance, and since the middle is all mountainous, the actual distance will only be greater than this number. This was the route the 113th Division needed to take, and on the night of November 27 it received an order to reach Sansho-ri at 8 a.m. on the 28th to cut off the retreat of the U.S. 9th Army fleeing south.
The 113th Division's Yangtze River Tide calculated that the time left for them was only 14 hours. Without much thought, the 113th Division (owed to the 339th Regiment) set out. In order to speed up, they abandoned all unnecessary equipment, carrying only weapons and ammunition and began to run desperately on the road. Deputy division commander Liu Haiqing led the 338th Regiment as a vanguard.
Before departure, Zhu Yueqing, the commander of the 338th Regiment, ordered that the whole regiment should advance lightly with only weapons and ammunition, and each battalion would arrange a company as a vanguard company. If there is an enemy on the way, the first vanguard company is responsible for blocking the attack, and the other troops continue to advance. If the enemy is encountered again, it is blocked by a second forward company, and the troops behind continue to advance. The principle is to fight, walk, alternately advance, and never love war.
In order to be able to fight while walking, all battalions, companies, and platoons have achieved advance command and weapons. Regiment commander Zhu Yueqing personally commanded a battalion, the battalion commander commanded the avant-garde company, and the company commander commanded the avant-garde platoon. At the same time, Zhu Yueqing also ordered the whole regiment: while walking, while fighting, while ordering, eating, sleeping, not staying for a moment, and not allowing a single person to be left behind.
The volunteers marched in a hurry as they fought
This arrangement was originally intended to be just in case, but I didn't expect it to really come in handy. On the way to the rapid march, the 113th Division encountered the US 25th Division, the US 1st Cavalry Division, the British 29th Brigade, the Turkish Brigade, and the Pseudo-7th Division, all of which were crushed by the 113th Division. The 113th Division marched as it fought, and the entire unit fell into a state of madness.
From the division commander to the cook, the thinking has been completely frozen, there are only three words in the brain, "three in the three houses", and it is more important than life to arrive at the three schools on time. The defeated coalition forces were driving their cars toward the three houses, and the volunteer soldiers could only rely on their own two legs, and had to use two legs to catch up with the car, even if the whole body was unconscious, and could only mechanically walk on the legs.
The warriors ran wildly, and some of the warriors fell to the ground and could not wake up again. Some soldiers vomited blood while running, and some were so tired that they could only lie in the middle of the road for a while, letting their comrades behind wake themselves up and then get up and run. The most tired are the artillery, mortars and Type 92 infantry guns are their only heavy firepower, they are not willing to discard at all, they can only be dismantled and carried on their bodies, and they have to keep up with the speed of the infantry.
At the same time, Mr. Peng was anxiously pacing in the headquarters. It had been more than ten hours since the 113th Division had departed, but it still could not be contacted, and it was not known where it had arrived. The lone army has penetrated seventy or eighty kilometers behind the enemy's back, and anything can happen, can the 113rd Division arrive on time? Mr. Peng also had no bottom in his heart.
The volunteer artillery dismantled the infantry artillery and carried them on their shoulders
It was already dawn, and the 113th Division was out of disguise and marching on the main road, because the time was running out. The division Yangtze River Chao believed that marching on the main road was very risky, and if it was bombed by US warplanes, it would suffer heavy losses. However, if they could not arrive on time and let the American troops flee, they would bring greater casualties to the volunteers in the future. After weighing it up, he decided to take the risk.
The US warplanes found them in the sky, and after circling around for careful identification, the US military believed that such a "ragged and disheveled" army must be the collapse of the puppet army. Instead of dropping bombs, they radioed the puppet soldiers in the three institutes to prepare to cook a meal to greet them. When Zhu Yueqing led the vanguard battalion to sanshouli, only one charge annihilated the puppet army that was cooking.
He climbed up the east hill to see that the road to the north was covered with smoke and dust, and the American troops who could not see their heads had retreated. The 113th Division arrived at its intended position only 5 minutes ahead of the Americans, and in just 5 minutes, it rewrote the course of the entire campaign. In just 5 minutes, it was the life and death of the entire Western Alliance.
Zhang Fu, director of the 113th Division's reporting service, immediately turned on the radio and sent a report to Zhisi, the army, and the division:
"Our troops have reached the three houses before the enemy!"
"The enemy is trying to retreat through Sanshori!"
"Our ministry asks for instructions!"
This is a telegram sent by Shiji to the 38th Army, and Mr. Peng deliberately added the words "Long live the 38th Army."
From the start-up to the completion of the report, Zhang Fu only took 5 minutes in total, for which he made a contribution. Mr. Peng immediately ordered: Give me a nail there like a steel nail! The gates of the coalition fleeing south were completely closed. The 113th Division did not know that they had inadvertently set a record in human military history: a 14-hour rapid march of 145 miles (the actual distance was more than that), an average of 5.2 kilometers per hour, an average of 2 meters per second, and 6 enemy troops in the middle of the way.
This is a feat that shocks the world and weeps ghosts, a miracle, and a miracle. It records the glory of the Chinese Volunteer Army and will forever be recorded in the annals of history.
