According to local TV station KSNV, at about 3 a.m. on December 20, Chengyan Wang was cleaning at a Chinese restaurant called "Shanghai Lane" when a man suddenly broke in. The suspect was later identified as Rashawn Gaston-Anderson, 23, who fired 11 shots at Wang, seven of them.

It's unclear what happened inside the restaurant, but Joe Muscaglione, a partner at Shanghai Lane, said Mr. Wang had tried to wrestle with the suspects. The suspects escaped without taking any of the store's belongings with them, which they believe was an attempted burglary.

Wang Chengyan was reportedly shot four times in the abdomen, one in the shoulder, one in the neck, and one in the hand. A security guard near the restaurant spotted him and called for help.

On December 20, Shanghai Lane posted a facebook post about the incident. Three days later, the restaurant wrote: "Wang Chengyan will be fine!" He opened his eyes and had already had three successful surgeries. ”
