A 4.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Qingchuan County, Sichuan Province

Chengdu, 20 Jan (China News Service) -- According to the China Earthquake Network, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Qingchuan County, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, at 5:52 a.m. on January 20, and there are currently no casualties.

It is reported that the epicenter of the earthquake is 10 kilometers deep, and the epicenter is located at 32.34 degrees north latitude and 105.13 degrees east longitude. The epicenter is 28 kilometers away from Qingchuan County, 68 kilometers away from Guangyuan City, and 213 kilometers away from Chengdu City.

According to the China Earthquake Observatory Network Express Catalogue, there have been 118 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above in the past five years within 200 kilometers of the epicenter, and the largest earthquake was a 7.0 magnitude earthquake (156 kilometers from the epicenter) that occurred in Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province on August 8, 2017.

"I woke up in my sleep this morning, I could feel a noticeable shaking in bed, and the window glass made a 'creaking' sound." Wang Baoqiang, the leader and first secretary of the Task Force assigned by the Qingchuan County Market Supervision Bureau to Dongyang Village in Sanguo Town, recalled in an interview that Dongyang Village was about 20 minutes away from the epicenter, and the earthquake was strongly felt when it occurred, lasting about 7 to 8 seconds.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Propaganda Department of the Qingchuan County CPC Committee, after the earthquake, the townships and towns in the county organized personnel to conduct investigations at the first time, and there are no reports of casualties and property losses.
