In order to solve the problem of high-speed charging difficulties for new energy vehicles, in 2021, Sichuan has built a total of 149 charging stations in 79 pairs of highway service areas, covering 20 cities and prefectures in the province. Among them, 10 expressways between Sichuan and Chongqing have achieved full coverage, and the inter-provincial charging channels have opened up four directions of Sichuan-Chongqing, Sichuan-Shaanxi, Chuanqian and Sichuan-Yunnan.
"In the past, only the two service areas of Jintang and Locust Tree on the Chengdenan Expressway had charging piles, and because they were slow charging piles, it took 6 to 8 hours to fill." According to Zhang Zhiquan, deputy general manager of Sichuan Chengdenan Expressway Co., Ltd., the Chengdenan Expressway was completed and put into use in 2013, and due to the relatively early completion time, the entire expressway did not have a charging station.
According to Zhang Zhiquan, this year, the 4 service areas of the Chengdenan Expressway have carried out the construction and transformation of charging stations, all charging piles are fast charging, the vehicle only needs 30 minutes to charge 80% of the electricity, and the driving distance can reach 300 kilometers.
The reporter saw in the Zhongjiang service area that the charging station is located on the right side of the service area, with 4 charging piles and 8 charging guns, which can meet the charging needs of logistics vehicles, private cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles.
By the end of 2021, Sichuan Province has built charging pile facilities in 79 pairs of highway service areas, with an average spacing of 60 kilometers, a maximum spacing of 200 kilometers, and a minimum spacing of 27 kilometers, covering 20 cities and prefectures in the province, basically achieving full coverage of major road sections, and weaving a charging network centered on Chengdu, from south to north, from east to west throughout Sichuan.
According to Jiang Shuai, director of the Service Supervision Division of the Sichuan Provincial Traffic Law Enforcement Corps (Department Executive Bureau), the coverage rate of highway charging stations in the province has exceeded 50% (a total of 149 pairs of service areas in the province), and these charging stations will all be put into operation before the Spring Festival in 2022, providing convenience for new energy vehicle owners to travel during the Spring Festival.
Jiang Shuai said that the Provincial Traffic Law Enforcement Corps will accelerate the construction progress according to the development trend of new energy vehicles and the specific needs of drivers. In 2022, it is planned to build more than 45 pairs of charging stations in service areas to achieve full coverage of highway sections in the province.
