The day before yesterday, at the Huawei press conference, Yu Chengdong officially introduced the first new car of AITO, a high-end smart car brand cooperated by Huawei and Xilix, the Q&I M5. The biggest highlight of this car is Huawei's deeply customized HarmonyOS smart cockpit.
After the release of this car, many people said that this is not Huawei's own car? In fact, it is not, the new car and Huawei are still only cooperative partners, Huawei does not have equity in this new brand, and Yu Chengdong also stressed again at the press conference that "Huawei does not build cars".

In fact, there are more and more claims that Huawei will personally go down to build cars, especially when the sales of Cyris SF5 and Alpha S are not good, everyone says that Huawei will personally build cars next.
But let me say that Huawei really won't build its own cars, because this is not in Huawei's interests, nor can it satisfy Huawei's ambitions.
The first is that the profit of making cars is generally very low, everyone goes to see BBA manufacturers, the profits are less than 10%, and even giants like Toyota and Volkswagen, the profit is even less than 7%. As for Huawei's mobile phone business, the profit is higher than 20%, which shows that car building is really not profitable.
More importantly, car building is not like mobile phones, car building is a business with extremely high technical difficulty, huge input cost, but extremely long payback period. Judging from the current situation, the top 20 car companies in the world are large enterprises with a history of more than 50 years. If Huawei builds its own car, it is actually difficult to see results in a short period of time.
Not to mention that Huawei itself is still banned, car manufacturing needs a large number of chips, China can not not integrate these supply chains are problems, so Huawei's own car, is not realistic.
Secondly, Huawei's goal is not to build a car, Huawei is aiming at the bigger cake behind the car, that is, the intelligent car ecology.
On the one hand, it is to provide automatic driving, electronic control systems, intelligent cockpits and other technical services for these smart cars, so that they can become suppliers, such a market is far greater than making their own cars.
On the other hand, Huawei wants to develop the automobile ecology, such as the Hongmeng ecology, in the era of intelligent cars, occupying the user's time and energy in the car, and allowing Huawei's mobile phones, watches and other smart terminals to connect with the car, forming an era of Interconnection of Everything based on Hongmeng, which is far more valuable and meaningful than car building.
And such ambitions, need a large number of users, a large number of equipment to connect, rather than relying on Huawei to build their own cars can be achieved, once Huawei makes its own cars, other car companies will not cooperate with Huawei, so Huawei will obviously not build their own cars.
