During the Liberation War, there was a senior general in the First Field Army of our army, who was extremely upright and honest, never spoke in a roundabout way, and was a well-known temper on the northwest battlefield. The PLA troops pay attention to obedience, and senior generals are often very humble and obedient to the arrangements of their superiors when faced with their duties and honors. But this person is different, and the things that have been identified will never be hidden.

This famous general was Huang Xinting, the founding lieutenant general of the First Field Army. The frank and honest General Huang did something at the end of the Liberation War, which is very interesting and thought-provoking. In 1949, the entire people's liberation army carried out military reform, and the famous general Xu Guangda was appointed commander of the 1st 2nd Corps, which was under the jurisdiction of the 3rd, 4th and 6th Armies. After weighing up the noji, Xu Guangda was also the commander of the 3rd Army, and the former commander of the 1st Division, Huang Xinting, was also promoted at the same time and became the deputy commander of the 3rd Army.
This was originally a personnel promotion, and it was too late to change others' happiness, but Huang Xinting's stubborn temper was committed again, and he actually said to his superiors: I am only a military commander, not a deputy commander. His superiors tried to persuade him, but Huang Xinting just wouldn't accept the appointment. Could it be that he and General Xu Guangda have an opinion and are reluctant to work together? So the organization let Huang Xinting's old boss, the highly respected He Shuai, talk to him specifically.
He Shuai understood the temper of his subordinates. As early as the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Huang Xinting was still a regimental commander, and once in a battle he annihilated hundreds of devils, and he left all the captured Japanese weapons in his regiment and did not hand them in according to the regulations. Some fraternal units were very unconvinced when they found out and reported the situation to their superiors. He Shuai then asked Huang Xinting to hand over some of the new weapons and supplement the other troops. Huang Xinting was not ambiguous, and he answered two words: do not hand over. He Shuai was very angry and asked him why he didn't pay, didn't know discipline? Huang Xinting replied: The brotherly troops are in difficulty, and we are just as difficult. He Shuai knew that Huang Xinting was a rectum and did not tell a lie, and after thinking about it, he asked Huang Xinting to leave the weapon behind.
This time, Huang Xinting refused the appointment of deputy commander, which was in line with his usual approach. After He Shuai found the "thorn head" Huang Xinting, he opened the door to the mountain: Say, what does it mean? Huang Xinting said: The division commander can lead the troops, and the military commander can also lead the troops, but the deputy commander is constrained to fight, and I am not suitable for this role. As soon as He Shuai heard it, he understood that Huang Xinting was not disobedient to Xu Guangda, on the contrary, he still respected him, but Huang Xinting believed that the deputy post did not have the actual command power, and it was not painful to be a deputy commander.
He Shuai smiled and enlightened Huang Xinting: Xu Guangda is still the head of the corps, and the specific work of the 3rd Army must be done by you, and there is no difference between him and the commander. Who knows, after hearing this sentence, the stubborn Huang Xinting will not do anything: it is not the military commander who is also responsible for the work of the military commander, it is not justified, and I certainly cannot be this deputy commander. He Laozhong also had no way to take this stubborn subordinate, and after contemplation, he fully communicated with the organization, and finally let Huang Xinting become the official commander of the 3rd Army.
After Huang Xinting became the commander of the army, the command was well organized, the morale of the 3rd Army was very high, and the superiors were also very satisfied with his work and recognized Huang Xinting's ability. Both Peng Zong and He Shuai liked him very much, and in 1955 Huang Xinting was awarded the rank of lieutenant general. This is a true story of the late liberation wars, and it is not necessarily a good thing that people are too humble at times; it is probably not a bad thing to be blunt and honest and bold in speaking their minds.
