On December 24, the "GDMoA Annual Artist Academic Nomination Exhibition (2021)" under the guidance of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and sponsored by the Guangdong Museum of Art opened at the Guangdong Museum of Art.

With the support and guidance of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, the Guangdong Museum of Art has independently curated a new exhibition series "GDMoA Annual Artist Academic Nomination Exhibition (2021)", which is based on the comprehensive research and new observation method of the Guangdong Museum of Art's long-term trinity of academic direction, exhibition mechanism and talent construction, and continues to deepen the contemporary vision of artistic creation and exhibition construction, and rethink the changes and challenges of art ecology.

As the first annual artist academic nomination exhibition held by the Guangdong Museum of Art, the exhibition is oriented to the contemporary era, with a point overview, cutting into the art ecology of Guangdong and even the current China, showing its academic, extensive and diversified development, and building a leapfrog exchange platform in the interaction of scholars, the public, and artists.
As a comprehensive platform for displaying China's contemporary emerging artists, the "GDMoA Annual Artist Academic Nomination Exhibition" adopts the expert nomination and judging system. For this selection project, the Guangdong Museum of Art will set up an academic committee of the 2021 "GDMoA Annual Artist Academic Nomination Exhibition" with a high academic level to ensure the academic and professionalism of the exhibition.
Wang Shaoqiang, director of the Guangdong Museum of Art, said that in recent years, the Guangdong Museum of Art has continuously deepened its academic research system in the history of modern and contemporary art, and upgraded the exhibition system in the fields of Guangdong art, coastal and bay area art development, contemporary art, etc., especially the exploratory exhibition projects such as the "No. 7 Space Academic Nomination Exhibition" and the "Modern and Contemporary Artists Case Study Exhibition" launched in recent years, which encourage us to continue to pay attention to the future art ecology and development.
Relying on the vigorous development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Guangdong Museum of Art has increased its investment and research in the direction of the ecological construction of art in the Pearl River Delta, further deepened the mechanisms of art creation, talent training, exhibition planning along the contemporary, national and coastal nature, and based on the original academic positioning of the Guangdong Museum of Art, comprehensively realized the presentation, sorting out and in-depth exploration of Chinese modern and contemporary art, especially Guangdong and coastal modern and contemporary art, bay area art and contemporary art.
As far as the exhibition itself is concerned, artistic creations from all over the country gather in Guangdong from all sides, which is an artistic practice activity that transcends space and personal thinking. Under this system, the nominees and nominated artists are not limited to a specific region, and the artistic concepts they display can also collide with new sparks in this exchange platform, linking the entire Ecology of Chinese contemporary art to be connected and presented in the exhibition.
The types of works exhibited this time range from traditional forms such as painting and sculpture on the shelf to "postmodern" forms such as installation, video, and concept, and the rich types of works on display also ensure that the exhibition is carried out in a diversified and diversified state of presentation.
This year's "GDMoA Annual Artist Academic Nomination Exhibition" will be nominated by each academic committee member for the annual artist candidate, with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as the regional background, committed to promoting China's artistic creation practice and international thinking, and actively promoting and establishing a dynamic network of academic research and artistic exchanges.
