Recently, we obtained a set of the latest official pictures of the new 2022 Toyota Avalon Special Edition from foreign media. Before Toyota Avalon disappears from U.S. showrooms, the Japanese automaker will offer a new Nightshade Edition model for the 2022 model year.
It was one of several minor changes Toyota made to the sedan before it ended production runs at its Kentucky plant. The new model year also saw Toyota stop using the hotter Avalon TRD in 2022, which is no longer on the configurator.
The new XSE Hybrid Nightshade Edition models will be available in Midnight Black Metallic, Wind Chill Pearl or Celestial Silver Metallic. The sedan is also equipped with a large number of black parts such as a black mirror cover, a black rear spoiler, black door handles, a black shark fin antenna and a black designer brand. The sedan features 19-inch black painted alloy wheels.
Toyota's electric tilt/slide sunroof is also standard on the Nightshade Edition as well as the Limited, Limited Hybrid and Touring. It is optional on the 2022 XLE and XLE Hybrid. Nightshade also comes with Toyota's eight-speaker sound system, which includes a nine-inch touchscreen. Toyota offers a premium JBL sound system with 1,200 watts and 14 speakers as standard with Limited and Touring trims. The rest are optional.
The new car is slightly more expensive than the upcoming model, with an entry-level XLE interior adding $150. Since Toyota has adopted the Toyota Safety System 2.5+ standard throughout its model range, the slight price increase does include more standard safety features. It includes automatic high beams, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure warning with steering assist, road sign assist, and more. Toyota is also standardizing its rear seat reminders for monitoring passengers' rear seats.
It is reported that the new car has six configurations to choose from and is now available at dealerships.
