According to the report, as the chip supply situation has improved, Apple has gradually expanded the production area of the iPhone 13, and industry executives revealed that Hon Hai's factory in Chennai, India, has now trial production of the iPhone 13 and is expected to start mass production in February next year, directly supplying the local market in India and overseas exports.

Industry executives also pointed out that the iPhone 13 produced in India will help Apple improve the supply of the machine in the global market, because the iPhone 13 produced in India usually has 20-30% for export.

In this regard, neither Apple nor Hon Hai responded to this news.

According to reports, the iPhone 11 and 12 are the highest-selling models of Apple in India, both of which are mainly produced by Hon Hai, while the second-generation iPhone SE is produced by Wistron's factory in Bengaluru.

The iPhone 13 series was launched in India in September this year, of which the iPhone 13 model sold more than the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, which is one of the reasons why Apple does not plan to produce the iPhone 13 high-end model in India.

In addition to mobile phone foundries, India's science and technology minister said last week that India had approved a $10 billion incentive program to attract semiconductor and display manufacturers as part of India's further efforts to build a global electronics production hub, according to Jiwei.

According to Reuters, the Indian government said in a statement that it would provide financial support of up to 50% of the project cost to eligible display and semiconductor manufacturers. "The program will usher in a new era of electronics manufacturing by providing globally competitive incentives for companies in the semiconductor, display manufacturing and design sectors."

A government source told Reuters that in addition to Hongwai, Israel's Tower Semi and a consortium in Singapore have also expressed interest in building a chip factory in India, and Vedanta Group is eager to build a display factory in India. (Proofreading/Nori)
