The reporter learned from the Songjiang District Consumer Protection Commission that since January 1, 2019, the Songjiang District Consumer Protection Commission has accepted a total of 167 jewelry complaints, of which 114 are gold jewelry. The specific problems reflected by consumers are mainly unclear exchange policies and product quality.
In order to understand consumers' knowledge of the rules for the exchange of one-price jewelry, the Consumer Protection Commission of Songjiang District conducted a questionnaire survey. The survey results show that 56.16% of consumers will take the initiative to pay attention to signs, 80.82% of consumers will take the initiative to check or ask about the weight, and 42.47% of consumers will take the initiative to understand the exchange rules.
According to the Shanghai Municipal Standard "Regulations on the Identification of Gold and Silver Jewelry", gold and silver jewelry products produced and sold in Shanghai have the responsibility and obligation to mark the product weight (g) on the sales label. The Consumer Protection Commission of Songjiang District conducted relevant investigations into 13 gold and jewelry stores in its jurisdiction, involving brands such as China Gold, Chow Tai Fook and Laomiao Gold.

The survey found that the one-price product identification of most brands is relatively standardized, especially in direct stores. However, the identification of some stores inlaid with one-priced products still needs to be improved. The grammage on the product sign is not indicated as the total weight or the gold weight, and it is known to be the total weight after the re-weighing. In this regard, the Consumer Protection Commission of Songjiang District suggested that merchants clearly indicate the weight of the product and the weight of precious metals, so as not to cause confusion among consumers.
In addition, the value-added services of the 8 gold jewelry stores regarding the one-price exchange products are limited to verbally informing consumers, such as Chow Tai Sang and Ya Yi Gold Stores located on the first floor of Songjiang Mall. A small number of franchised stores do not have clear exchange rules, and only rely on personal commitments to sell. For example, China Gold, located on the first floor of Lane 79, Zhongshan Middle Road, has no specific recycling standards for one-price exchange products, and the sales commitment and the boss's commitment are inconsistent, all of which are verbal commitments and no written agreements.

According to Article 8 of the Law on the Protection of The Rights and Interests of Consumers, consumers have the right to know the true situation of the goods they purchase or use or the services they receive. Therefore, stores should strengthen staff training to ensure that consumers' consumption rights are effectively protected.
